Katyk the advent calander thing sounds so sweet...almost worth having kids for!!

Honey - i've gotten into the habit of making huge syn free brekkys when I'm at home (diced pots, toms, mushrooms, quorn sausages all shoved into a lasagne dish baked, then crack an egg into it and bake a little more). During the week I normally have a big glass of water and some banana chopped into yogurt (but then I snack on apples at work!). I think a couple of boiled eggs in the morning would go down well if I had the time...

Thanks for the rice pud recipes everyone. I'm going to give it another go tonight.

I made the SW ferrero rocher things and have since become addicted to nutella so am starting again today and ignoring the last week's worth of dipping various items (bananas, hifi bars, spoons, fingers etc) into the nutella jar.

I managed to get into a smaller dress size when I was in Debenhams at the weekend. Huzzah.

    Hope you're all well.

Hi Jeannie.......... you can do it!!

Keep focused. Easily said I know but I lost 4st this year and feel so much better.

    Tips?

Make saying 'no' to offers of biscuits, sweets, nibbles etc a habit. Don't even consider what is being offered. Just say 'no' automatically. You don't want it more than your want being in that dress!!

Go to bed early and do your nails. I found I ate when I was tired and your nails will look great with the dress.

When you come home and you think 'I'm starving', make a hot drink and sit down to drink it before you even consider food. Often you are actually thirsty. The signals are often the same.

Don't be a martyr. When being told 'you are being good' just say 'no, I'm not really hungry' or 'I don't eat pastry' (you don't have to say why).

Don't use escalators (if no choice, keep walking up or down). Walk to the next bus stop etc.

Think about it like a 'budget'. If you 'spend' in one area you need to 'save' in another.

Eating and not moving about was a habit and I managed to create new habits. I think the experts say you have to do something 64 times (or whatever) to make it a habit.

It isn't easy to start with but every little thing makes a difference. We all know how to do it, it is just actually doing it isn't it?

I found that the most important thing was never to be hungry. I ate so many apples, pears and bananas! But at least I stopped that awful 'when can I next eat?' syndrome.

Will be thinking about you......... best of luck.

Hi Jeannie - you've come to the right place for advice and support. :) Your Christmas 'do' is just under 6 weeks away, so if you can manage to lose 2lbs a week you'll lose just under a stone. That is quite a steep target, but not impossible. How much do you think you'd need to lose to get into the bargain dress?

    LL

p.s. don't worry too much about what other people think of you gaining weight - they probably won't even notice!

Phew! Thanks for reply! Somehow doubted anyone would actually care enough to respond! Can JUST get into dress, but doesn't look good at all so confidence shot. Already feel so much better for writing this and facing problem at last. Losing a stone would be great, but any loss would be an improvement so will read through more posts for tips and START TODAY!

    Bless you :A

  • Hi stilernin. As i said- new to this. just seen your reply.

Fantastic to know people like you are out there!

Do you not have problem keeping your weight down now then? Cos I find that the hardest bit - hence stone and a half gain!

Going to print off your tips and carry them with me today especially like the 'budget' comment.

    You have inspired me!

    Morning...
Ok, have had 3 cups of tea and a small bowl of shreddies. Got a Tesco delivery today, so I'll have some fruit in and hopefully won't pick at the 'bad' stuff.
DH is home now. I'm hoping that will keep me on the straight and narrow!

Welcome Jeannie - in work so cant stay on for long, just popped on to say welcome, you are in the right place - stick at it. How about an exercise video each day in conjunction with cutting back on certain foods? That should help tone you up too

Hmmm - be careful, you could become addicted to daytime telly! :rotfl:

That was the hardest part for DH when he had his knee op, he got so bored he was climbing the walls. We were in the process of doing the garden, and had the drive block paved so he was able to supervise the lads that did it, but with so much time on his hands he couldn't resist getting stuck in to dig out the pond

I was worred that he would set back his recovery time, but he returned to work a month earlier than expected, so it didn't do any harm.

I'm not suggesting you start digging large holes in your garden though! :rotfl:

Daytime telly is not as good as I remember, I think the problem is I cant get out of the house. Though I have just driven around the block just now :T though I dont think I could cope with stop/starting just yet.

Im not the greatest in the garden Lois, so digging holes whether large or small wouldnt even cross my mind :)

So what are Magic Knickers? these the ones with elastic in the front panel?

  • well I went to s/w and have volunteered to be the weigh in girl every week so I have to go. no excuse. I put on 2lb this week so I'm back to my S.A.S. There were quite a few people who put on 1 or 2lbs this week it must be the change in the weather and the need to eat stodge.

someone made the s/w ferareroe roche things last night but they dropped them so they were in lots of bits but they tasted wonderful. Allso a weetabix cake which was amazing.

I love my magic knickers bought from marks and spencers worth every penny of the £18 they cost. All ways buy a size bigger then they don't squash the fat out of the waist and leg bands and you can eat without getting a tummy ache.
    HOW MUCH ?
