Hehe I just realised that I said I'm serving carrot and suede mash! I wonder if that's served with red velvet cupcakes! :rotfl:
OH's Dad dropped off their dining room table and a extra chair last night so I got a bit carried away and pushed the tables together and set it all up. I ran into OH's Mum before I went home after work (running around town trying to find a present for my impossible to buy for brother!) and moaned about mismatched plates so she's bringing 7 big white plates to use so I'm happy! Table looks lovely, all red, white and gold. I've even put a white sparkly bauble in each wine glass with a tag hanging off with everyone's name on as a place marker, OH was very impressed! Looking forward to it now!
I really hope I sleep tonight and tomorrow night, last Christmas Eve I couldn't sleep at all (think I gave up at 3am and got up to watch Miracle on 34th Street!) and was totally knackered all day, I went to OH's family's for dinner and was nodding off at the table!
Poddle, you're not wrong about it taking an hour to leave family! It always takes ages to leave my parents, they're so needy and they'll do anything to keep us there, it's cute but frustrating! Mum's got a new breadmaker and is planning on making fresh bread for boxing day bacon sarnies... I'll be waking her up at 6 so the bread's ready early! Also, is it sad that I'm hoping to be awake by 8.25 on Boxing Day so I can watch the Phineas and Ferb Christmas special on CITV?!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. WE got a breadmaker as an early Christmas pressie from OH's Mum so we will be trying it out later and see how that goes!
The table sounds gorgeous Birdie.0 -
Hi all,
Just managed to catch up with you all, hope everyone who was feeling poorly is better. Sorry to hear about your nightmare journey home Tete, we took 4 hours to make a 20 min journey in the snow two weeks ago, at least it's supposed to thaw over the weekend.
Not finished work til tomorrow then in next Wed - Fri, boo! Got loads to do today and tomorrow so will wish you all a Merry Christmas now (be back before NY) and hope all your hopes and wishes come true. Have a great time everyone xx0 -
Hi all,
Trying to catch up with everyone. Sorry to all those that are feeling sick and that have had travel plans disrupted. Myself and Max have were due to fly to OH's today but our flight has been cancelled and we have been put on one tomorrow morning. Meanwhile OH is bound towards Bristol to get a flight home. So at the moment it looks like he will be in the west of the country and me in the east but at least we will all be on Irish soil.
Fingers crossed we all get to spend Xmas Day together

Thanks Birdie and Wendz - how are you two?
Birdie - I didn't get Max a costume but got him a Santa hat and a Xmas top saying I love Santa. I also got him a Xmas romper suit and hat so he will be suitably festive. I think for next year I will get him an outfir though, I like the elf ones!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I'll be terrible when I have babies, they'll be in costume at every given opportunity! You know how much I like dressing up! There's a majorly cute snowman costume in Sainsburys, even OH went 'Awwwwwwww'! I want to see a pic of Max all festively dressed!

I'm surprisingly well CMD, usually I'm a snotty mess around Christmas but so far I'm fine! :jMy poor SIL has a chest infection, I spoke to her last night and she sounded dreadful, I'm staying well away from her on Christmas day so I don't catch her lurgy! She makes me laugh though because she's got such great Yorkshire Farmer accent, told me she's 'Poo-ly'! Last week 'One o' th' coo's died' :rotfl:I could listen to her all day!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Lol - it is a great accent! I was tempted with the costume but OH kept putting me off. He does look cute with Santa hat and little stripey top though. Next year he will defo be dressed as an elf. I dressed him as a skeleton for Hallow E'en and he looked very cute!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I noticed that but as I reread me pointing it out it just sounded picky to point it out but I did find it funny!
Dn;t worry about waking her up, almost all the breadmakers have a timer function in them so they'll set off during the night.
Really, really hope you all end up in the same place for Christmas CMD. x
I seem to have become a Christmas baking machine. Doing my grandparents a hamper for Christmas, and then everyone is coming to ours for a buffet on boxing day. So far I've made caremalised nuts, white choc fudge, spiced cherry vodka, blackberry and apple jam, strawberry syrup, vanilla syrup, brownies, peanut brittle, and there is a gingerbread house in the oven! Can't make some bits yet though as most of the savoury stuff doesn't keep. Making mums Christmas lunch soon though - she's veggie so I'm doing her a cranberry, chestnut and parsnip nut loaf. About 2/3 of the pressies are wrapped, but the tree is still very minimalist (1 bauble, no lights!)Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
