Ha ha, I was like that! I don't think I achieved anything except for eating some mince pies and setting my out-of-office :D

I've totally underestimated what still needs to be done too! We're having a little 'do' tomorrow night, was supposed to be a proper Christmas party but the Rugby Club is having their Christmas party too so we're starting at ours then going to the other party. At least I don't have to put so much food on as there will be food at the other party! I'll still be getting nibbles though so have to buy party food tonight/tomorrow morning.

I need to get all the food for Christmas Eve dinner. OH's parents gave us £50 to pay for the meat (sounds a lot but they all eat loads so it won't go that far!) but I've completely forgotten to order anything so I'll have to see if I can still order anything fancy tomorrow! Bit put out that they've made a big deal about paying for the meat but what about everything else? We didn't exactly offer to host dinner and can't really afford to buy loads of food and wine when we normally live on beans on toast and porridge, we're just stuck with it because his parents can't fit 7 people in their little new house! My Mum has lent me her lovely Christmas dinner plates, but we can't use them because there are only 6 of them and we've got 7 for dinner :( We don't actually have over 4 of anything matching, everyone will have odd place settings which will drive me mad even though I know it doesn't really matter!

I got a major bargain yesterday, went to buy some Christmas cards in a cheapy shop and picked up 4 boxes marked £1 each, they scanned through as 25p each so I got all 4 for £1! I was well impressed with myself!

Urgh I'm so jealous of everyone getting loads of time off over Christmas! I get next Friday and Monday off, then the following Friday and Monday. That's it! Horrid work! With any luck I'll be working for my Dad next year so that'll be 2 weeks off work!

Birdie I def wouldn't trust internet shopping. My Amazon DVD due on the 10th just arrived today! I am still waiting for a calander posted almost two weeks ago!

Tete- bad news is actually snowing and laying in London!

I still have all of next week at work, finish at midday Christmas eve, I am off till after new year though.

Who believes that kind of thing? Surely you'd go to the police/Britsh Embassy/anywhere really rather than email all your friends?! Hope that's the end of the matter for you though.

You'd think so, wouldn't you? I was surprised how many people genuinely believed it though. I had tons of calls and emails to check so they must have at least half believed it. There was also one contact who all but accused me of being a Nigerian scammer!

    Hey Everyone

I've had a hectic week too, went to a conference on the other side of London and it took me 2 hours to get there every morning and 2 hours to get home. I have the most horrible cold ever and the start of a chest infection now that I'm on holiday. Why do you always get sick at holiday time?! The snow is mental here - Tete I hope you managed to get down already. I'm holing up in the house and OH has gone out to Neal's Yard Dairy for Christmas cheese. Eating cheese in front of the telly is our own Christmas tradition. And big fat olives. Tonight we're having friends round for a full Christmas dinner, so there's a lot of cooking to do. Bummer!

CMD that is such wonderful news about the move, I'm so glad it's all coming together. You never know you might be able to find a house and creche at the same time. My sister was lucky and managed to when she moved to Stirling this time last year. Fingers crossed.

Also I went shopping for a wedding dress yesterday and found one I really liked. There's a sample on sale for half price which make it affordable, but I promised my Mum I would go shopping with her next Thursday so I haven't bought it yet. Fingers crossed no-one else does!!

Love the dress Lara - its absolutly gorgeous :D

All this talk of how long people have off work is making me jealous! I finish 8:30pm on Christmas eve, and I'm back in at 8:00am on the 27th :(

  • Wise words you all speak. I think I will go with that advice and find somewhere different than the flat we own!

Lara - that dress is absolutely stunning. I love it :)
