Do you use that website that got hacked and someone pushed all the passwords online DK? It was a gossip site, Grazzle or something wierd?

I've not heard of it so I don't think it was anything to do with that. One of my freelance contacts said that there's a scam like this doing the rounds where the sender (supposedly you) is made out to be in desperate need of your help in the hope that you send the money. This one claimed that I'd been mugged at gun point in Spain and was stranded there without any cash, cards etc and was actually scarily believable.

Not so great news for you Dippy, what a nightmare! There are some really awful people out there, I just don't get why people do things like that?!

Ditto! It must be a hell of a lot of effort for the amount of cash that they'd likely get from it. I can't imagine anyone on my contacts list actually sending the money even if they believed the contents- they'd contact me on Facebook or similar seeing as the email claimed that "I" was sending it from a public library. It's nuts!

PS - Congrats CMD - exciting!

Who believes that kind of thing? Surely you'd go to the police/Britsh Embassy/anywhere really rather than email all your friends?! Hope that's the end of the matter for you though.

Brill news CMD and good luck with the 2nd interview - it's best that these things happen quickly I think.

Lots of money-making Dinah, are you sorted for Xmas?

  • Thanks all.

Things are moving so quickly now. I don't think OH realises the amount of co-ordination it will take to get a new place and find a suitable creche for Max as well in such a short space of time.

I want to move back to our old place, which is far from ideal as it is on the 2nd floor with no lift, but at least I can research creches in that general area and we can let it out again in 6 months time when we are living there and can research areas and flats/houses properly. We would also pay off the debt quicker and it wouldn't be as stressful.

OH is dead set against this as we had noisy neighbours when we lived there and he thinks the area is too rough and noisy for a baby.Decision decisions, its not easy.........

Do you have tennants in the flat CMD? If so I'd be tempted to get something elsewhere rather than have to move again in a few months.

Sorted for Christmas.... well... I have a huge stack of unsent cards, unsent presents, I can't finish making my presents that need ingredients as I can't afford them and the lounge is still not finished so there are no decorations or tree! I think I'm about as far from ready as its possible to be :(

Yes, we have tenants in our place. I just don't see how we can realistically flat and creche hunt at the same time. I can't see us being so lucky that both would turn up in the same area at the same time!

Oh gee Dinah! Couldn't you string some fairy lights on a ladder or something? :( Or tinsel on a paint can? Thanks awful, a little festive cheer around the place would make you feel way better just for sparkle! Isn't there anything you could make for gifts using what you've already got though? My Mum made these amazing little biscuits from mainly flour, icing sugar and custard powder I *think* They are total belly yums! If you have them in I could get her to send me the recipe and pass it on? I'm sure people aren't expecting gifts though, you had a massive wedding, blow out honeymoon and bought your first home. I doubt they'll think you're rolling in it and just being a Scrooge!

CMD - That's amazing news about the move!! :D So happy for you. Must be stressful getting it sorted, but equally exciting.

Oooh my Mum will be excited about that Wendz, she's been waiting for that offer for ages, it works out really cheap after her discount! I hope she's been going on about it because she wants to get it for me, I'll be gutted if she buys it then keeps it for herself!

So glad it's Friday today! And payday Friday at that! I can finally finish my Christmas shopping! I had planned on doing a big online shopping sesh but I don't really trust that stuff will arrive in time now so I'm going to have to brave the crowds! I think I'll try to get out of work on time tonight (a rarity at the moment!) and go to Asda rather than going to town tomorrow as I imagine it'll be mental!

The greatest ever thing happened to me the other night, OH was glaring at the star on the top of our tree and was moaning about it being wonky (it's a real tree so we can't really bend the tip of the tree to make the star sit straight!) and asked me if I had a Barbie that could sit on the top instead! So now we have a Barbie in a pretty red frock on top of our tree, it looks awesome! OH would have died rather than have a doll on his tree last year but he's mellowing in his old age, clearly!

CMD, as troublesome as it would be I think you'd be better off looking for somewhere else to live in Scotland and leaving tenants in the flat you own. If your OH is set against it you'll probably end up moving again anyway because he won't be happy there, and the whole no lift thing will be a nightmare, my friend lives in a 2nd floor flat and really struggles to get her baby and all his stuff up and down the stairs. I'd hate it, I'd be worried of falling down the stairs whenever I had the baby in my arms! You might also struggle to get new tenants in when you decide to move again which would add the the stresses, that I'm sure you could do without!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

It's like a little Christmas miracle! :D I'm going to brave the crowds today too! I finished work yesterday (yay!) but feel like I've underestimated how much there is to do. Eek.

But at the same time, it will come together, so try not to stress Dinah :) it's not a disaster if the cards don't get sent and everyone will understand - as long as you're spending Christmas with the people you love.

CMD, that's so exciting about your move to Scotland! All the details will sort themselves out, but it does sound like you'd be better off finding a place straight off - it will be tough, but at least you won't have to move again in 6 months just when you're settled.

Tete, really hope the snow doesn't affect your London trip! x
