Must be lovely to be getting rid of the clutter Dinah, I'm loving seeing space on shelves that used to be jam-packed! OH boxed everything up for Music Magpie last night and we've now got a cd organiser thingy in our bookcase that's empty bar the 8 cds they wouldn't accept (no idea why they don't want Steps, Spice Girls or Five!!!). We're looking around the place now trying to see what else we can get rid of!

Roadtrip of Doom is all awesome, we don't want scaredy cats with us, if you can't hack it, you ain't coming! ;)

I was talking to my Mum last night and she mentioned wanting to go to London to look for an outift for my brother's wedding and go to Buckingham Palace to see Kate's (sorry, she's Royal now, Catherine's) wedding dress and she said she'll pay for me to go with her, all I have to do is cover my share of the food. Yay! OH wasn't too happy though, he doesn't like being left out which always puts me in an awkward position. My Mum and I used to spend so much time together, she really misses that and likes to go away with me when she can but OH gets annoyed because I'm getting spoilt whilst he's left at home. I do say that it's up to his Mum to treat him and it's not my fault I'm such delightful company that my own Mum wants me to herself 1 weekend a year but that doesn't do much to pacify him, then I spend the whole time getting presents for him rather than spending my little bit of spending money on myself! Sigh. It's hard work being married to someone who has to share everything with me sometimes!! :o

LOL at the image of the inside of NIM's head! :rotfl:

I like to think my head is far darker and scarier than that.
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

I think we're going for Kingsize.

I forgot to mention yesterday, I had a call back from Hovis. I mentioned I'd rather have the money over the car, but obviously either way is awesome.

Ooh, kingsize! We only have a double which is fine, but we are both quite small people (not 'little people', but neither of us hit 5'9 :o some of us only just hit 5'2...)

Cinny, I still can't believe your Mini news - hope they deliver the cash in a briefcase full of crisp fivers :D

I also forgot to mention yesterday that OH has signed up to do the Great North Run! So we might see SuperLucy there! :) His Mum works with Downs kids and is involved in a local charity that supports them who were after some people to run to raise money for them so she offered up OH's services, who in turn has offered up the services of his friend to run with him since, and I quote, 'I'd have put you down Robs but there's no way I could run all that way at your pace, it'd take us 3 days!' Cheeky get! :o

Cheeky! I always think that a support role is VERY significant though - are you going to make a banner?!

However the last 4 times I've been to Sainsbury's I've got a till spit for £4 or £6 off a £40 spend - Tesco accept these. Does this count as suitably moneysaving to merit my retention on the DFW board?!

I didn't know that you could still use Sainsbury's coupons in Tesco - i'm such an MSE dunce! I just booked my first (and probably last!) Ocado order. I bought hardly anything that wasn't on offer and used £15 off code, plus free delivery and £7.50 cashback but I still feel a bit diddled! It was just my normal 'big' shop and a bit of stocking up on basics, but hopefully we'll eat well for the next few weeks!

Lol at NIM and Birdie's roadtrip of doom! Great mental pic, Dinah:rotfl:

Birdie - i go out on days out with my mum too , is nice to have some quality time. Bless your OH for getting jealous. Sounds like a good trip too !

I have hoovered and dusted the lounge, next to hoover the hallway and our bedroom. Wow how exciting haha.

LOL, I love your exciting updates Wendz, it must be so difficult to get used to domestic life after being a full time worker for so long. Still, I wouldn't hate it! :)

I think I'll have to suggest that my Dad and OH come along to London too and they can go off and look at something manly whilst we're shopping, but then Mum won't be so happy to pay since she'll have to pay for 2 rooms rather than 1, and it'll end up costing us a lot more as we'll have to go out for proper dinner and drinks and make a thing of it rather than me and Mum just grabbing a bite on an evening. So.... trip'll probably not happen!

Zig, step away from Facebook! Only bad things can come of it!

It's true, my ex isn't on there which is such a good thing, but when you're unhappy the last thing you want to see is gushy statuses like "Oh my god I just love my hubby he's the best thing in the world ever and I'm such a lucky girl!" :o

    Love it, poor NIM!

Great news that your OH's Great North Running Birdie - you'd have to hang about at the finish line for a good few hours if you wanted to see me though I reckon :o

My wool is for a blanket! I've been invited over to my friend's parents' house in France for a week next month, lovely cheap and much needed holiday for me (I will say this about the Irish, for all the "700 years of oppresion, you ate all our potatoes" guff, they are the most generous and hospitable people I've ever met) - and I wanted to take a gift to say thanks. No good taking wine when it's nicer and cheaper where they are anyway, chocolates are a bit meh, so I thought I would crochet them a nice blanket which they can keep in their French house :) Good idea?

Dinah are you still doing the £100 grocery challenge? Does that mean that the vouchers I get through the post from Sains are usable in Tesco? That would be good.

On a moneysaving theme, I had a small success with my car insurance last night. Had a good play about on confused and managed to get it down from £500ish to £417 - cheapest was my current company. So I called them to go through the changes to the named drivers and it came out at £465 - so I said (heart thumping the whole time even though it's over the phone) well how come it's cheaper on Confused?! And he matched the price - hurrah! Still £115 more expensive than last year though grr.

Another moneysaving thing - I bought a brassiere in Debenhams about 2 months ago and went to put it on and the strap has snapped. It has only been washed once I think (sounds terrible but hasn't been worn much!!) but in the machine :o and I've cut all the labels out. I should still be able to get an exchange surely? Clothes shouldn't fall apart in that time, even if you do machine wash them?

Crocheting a blanket as a thank you gift is a brill idea. Whereabouts in France are you going? I believe in the redemptive qualities of holidays - wine, cheese, sun - what more could you want? :) been squirrelling away some money every month, so hopefully will be able to go somewhere cheap and sunny at the beginning of September.

You should definitely be able to return your faulty bra, but please do refer to it as brassiere when you do! :rotfl:

I never handwash mine - who has the time or inclination to do that?!

Yeah definately different to working full time. I must admit i have been pretty slack with the cleaning since Poppy has been born. Only doing it now because of visitors! I was thinking of starting to do the fly lady thing so i have set jobs to do each day.

That is silly about the trip. Would be a shame to cancel!

France sounds lovely Tete and the blanket a brilliant idea. Goes well with what i imagine a house in france to look like. Also i am sure they will appreciate loads more than some chocs!

I am not sure about the bra, if the labels were cut out they might not take it back?

Thank god, I felt such a slattern!

I know what you mean about the labels Wendz, but I know a girl who returned some shoes after 18 months when the upper started to come away from the sole!! Shy bairns get nowt so I'll give it a go!

The Flylady thing is good as it makes you do things you wouldn't normally think of, like wiping the lightswitches and things, and it's good to have a list to tick off as well. Just wait til Poppy's crawling, you can attach those mop things to her knees and [STRIKE]exploit her[/STRIKE] have her help :D

The blanket sounds like a lovely gift Tete, I'm sure they'll be thrilled! :D Well done on getting your car insurance down too!

I always machine wash my brassieres (teehee), agree with Poddle, who can be bothered?! They certainly shouldn't fall apart so quickly, I'd take it back and claim that it's not fit for purpose. Have you got the receipt or is it an obvious Debenhams only brand so they can't claim it's from somewhere else?

ETA: I love the idea of a baby mop! :D
