I've enjoyed doing it up but I am quite ready to be done with it. It just doesn't feel like our house. I think that's largely because of being tainted by the builder, but also we've lived there for so long when it's been a state it doesn't feel home like. Kept the carpet in the end but it's a bit marked now with being a downstairs room (and the only habitable one for quite a while) so if the wet vac doesn't spruce it up we'll need to replace that anyway. I will post photos when it's done, atm we're at 95% in a lot of rooms, nothing is really done as there are boxes and tools everywhere!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

There will be a great sense of satisfaction in getting it all finished though. You were hoping to make a fairly good profit though aren't you?Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

We were, given a bungalow identical to ours except it didn't have the 2 bedrooms on the first floor and the second bathroom went on the market at £199,999. So we thought we should be in the same region. But then a 3 bed extended to 4 went on the market yesterday just round the corner at £189,500, it's probably appealing to a similar demographic to our house so I don't get why it's so much less than the 2 bed! We'll just have to see.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

The housing market is a strange strange thing. I suppose you won't know until you get it valued and then it will only sell for what someone is prepared to pay.
It's great that you have room to extend the kitchen if needs be though.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

OH has been doing lots of DIY on our house since I've been away. He's had the bedroom replastered, painted and papered it, sanded the floorboards on the top floor of the house, and constructed our lovely new wardrobe and drawers. A wardrobe! I've wanted one for so long, I'm so excited about seeing it all. Then in the autumn we will replace the rotten living room windows and door onto Juliet balcony, and sand those floors and replaster that room. Maybe even get rid of the artex :j:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0

I'll never fully understand the housing market, and how prices can vary so much, but I suppose it all comes down to what people will be willing to pay and what the sellers are willing to take. The In-Laws sold their house last year for an embarrassingly low price, but they wanted rid quickly so they were happy to take the low offer... OH wasn't impressed though!
I had such a brain fart last night, I was making more bunting for the shower next week but got a bit caught up watching the TV so I wasn't really thinking about what I was doing and ended up putting my word backwards! D'oh! Look! :rotfl: My quick 20 minute job took 3 times as long so I didn't get any more stuff done, will have to start making my tiaras tonight and make sure I concentrate properly this time!
Oooh sounds like you've got lovely things to come home to Lara! And a Juliet balcony?! Jealous!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

Thanks CMD, I am well. Just over 2 more weeks of fieldwork left  How has the time gone so quickly?? I always get a bit stressed at this last stage, wondering if I have done enough and trying to cram in everything at the last minute. This weekend I am taking a small holiday, a trip to Sipi Falls with a friend from the guest house. The best thing is you can walk behind the waterfall like in films :rotfl:
Then the next 2 weeks will be crammed with as much work as possible. Just before I leave, my good friend from the last fieldwork trip returns to Kampala. So at least we will have one weekend of hanging out together before I return home on 31st. I would have liked to stay on a bit longer, but I am so excited to see OH, to eat different foods, and to take hot showers on demand. It's our wedding in August, so I am expecting the summer to fly by. I hope it's not too stressful with arranging everything. Hopefully most things are done now.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
The waterfall looks amazing Lara. It's great that you get to hang out with a good friend too! Will you be going back after this time?
