Gosh Dinah, that must have been terrible! I do love that Snowman scarf though
I've never actually watched The Snowman. But I had 'Grandpa' on the same VHS as it so I'd just fast forward past Snowy, and sob my little heart out at Grandpa instead!
Good luck with your CDWM night TeteI'm like Birdie, whenever a recipe calls for dark chocolate I always use milk chocolate. Even with my brownies, instead of using Cadburys bournville I always use their hot chocolate 'just add milk' powder instead
Hope everyone sickly is feeling better soon! I woke up feeling rotten, felt like I've been coming down with something for days so ended up having the day off. Slept in, minus watching The Shaytards, till 12:30 so I think I needed it. OH has been sending me little texts all day about stuff for the house, so excited0 -
That's great Cinny! Dinah I have that problem here, everyone guesses my age at 18 - a full 10 years younger. Everyone has gone to bed early tonight, so I'm just up watching Sex and the City in the living room. My OH Paul comes to visit on Sunday, I'm just wishing away the days until then. I'm *so* excited!:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0

I went to two banks today to get info on business bank accounts as I need to open one next week. My own bank were fine, but I went to Natwest and the lady said 'is it for a school project?' and I then had to convince her it was a real business, after a few minutes she said 'I'm sorry I hope I didn't offend you, but we don't have many 17 year olds asking about business bank accounts' .... to which I replied 'I'm 26 in 2 months'!!!
Well you're a young thing one way or the other. I think it's fabulous that you look so much younger than you are. :TSo, this weekend will be spent sorting out my wardrobe to get rid of anything too informal and childlike, throw out anything frayed or with holes, I will no longer wear my snowman scarf NIM got me to work/the bank, and I'm going to give mum back the boots I tend to wear to work which she got 11 years ago, and have lost at least half the fake fur trim, and are a bit mishapen and have lost a bit of the shape so slouch about my ankles. I will also throw out all tights with holes (even ones you can't see), pants that only stay up if I wear trousers with them, bras which don't fit, and try to work out how to do some sort of more adult hairstyle than a ponytail that will keep my mop out my face when I'm at work.
Excellent plan. Keep your 'younger' stuff for when you don't need to look all formal and businesslike though.0 -

Okay I don't ask much of my threadees, but please, please, it will be on the telly on Christmas eve (it isn't Christmas without The Snowman), sit down and watch it, it only takes 30 minutes but it's just beyond awesome.peaceandfreedom wrote: »Well you're a young thing one way or the other. Depends if you're trying to set up a business and they don't take you seriously! Still binning anything with holes, stains or frayed bits though! Started with the tights I wore today (hole in the thigh about the size of a dinner plate threatening to go all the way around, but worn with knee length skirts you couldn't see!)
Got to the £40 cashout level on onepoll today, and I have tomorrow off to wait in for our bedroom furniture so hoping to list a few bits on ebay, although the house is a TIP so might spend it tidying. That said, it's a tip because we have no furniture, and that's not changing by much tomorrow, so tidying may be a futile exercise!

Sounds like it may be better to wait till you get your bedroom furniture and then you can get all the bedroom stuff put away and just work on a room at a time otherwise you will be in a huge tissy trying to run round putting stuff away and getting more stressed a stuff goes from one room to another.0

:eek::eek: Cinny! I second Dinah's command! I couldn't find it in the listings last year and was distraught that I had to miss it. And [eople always give ME a hard time when they find out I haven't seen Top Gun, or The Karate Kid, or Back to the Future, but at least I've seen The Snowman!
I love the scarf too - maybe you print out that page with the 'ADULT' in big capitals to flash at people when you're wearing it!Good luck with your CDWM night TeteI'm like Birdie, whenever a recipe calls for dark chocolate I always use milk chocolate. See, I tried this and it just wouldn't mix with the melted butter, just kept separating and made me feel a bit quesy looking at it!
I don't think it's such a bad thing looking younger, but 17 is a bit much! I went to my Gran's straight from work a few months ago, I was wearing a smartish dress and had my proper adult hanndbag, and the workman she had in said "Oh hello, what are you studying at college?" I was like, "I'm 28!!" Also reminds me of the story of OH's sister when she was pregnant with her first at 26, the doctor asked her what the school thought of it!
Maybe you could try a sort of chignon with your hair? Not that I'd have a clue how to do one! And I thin it can't be a bad thing to get rid of any below-par clothes - I've been trying to weed out anything that doesn't fit right or makes me feel frumpy for a while now, but the problem is you're left with nothing to wear!
Awwww - have a lovely time with your OH Lara!!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

OMG, you have not seen Back to The Future - that was my childhood film (along with The Goonies)
My uncle used to ask my mum when I was leaving school (I was about 30 at the time), trust me age catches up with you but it's how you feel on the inside i.e. I still feel like an 18 year old - pity he is actually 430 -
Ah, now The Goonies I HAVE seenWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Tete, I can't believe you've not seen Back to the Future! Now I command you to watch it! All the times it's been on TV over the years, have you never been tempted to put it on? I feel so sorry for you, it's like you've missed out on a huge part of life! To you the DeLorean is just an ugly car :eek:I may be over-exaggerating a little, but I really do love that movie!
I have a feeling that this may turn into a list of movies that all threadees must watch!
I can sympathise with being spoken to like a teenager... although the last time I was out with my friend some horrid young boy (sure he was underage!) told me I was 'Well old' and an 'old slapper'... which was nice! Think I prefer being told I look 18!
I love your snowman scarf Dinah! Want one!
You must be so excited to see your OH Lara, I'm excited for you!
Trying and currently failing to get Take That tickets, website totally dead and OH helpfully said ring the ticketline... how can I find the number if the website is dead?!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0
