You're off again?! You have far too much time off for my liking! Is this your CDWM in the Lakes? Oooh, how did the dessert trial go?

  • This is my first day off since the first week of July I'll have you know! I even moved house with only an odd half-day or hour off here and there!

Yes it's Come Dine With Me week! The dessert was horrible! Really really far too rich and bitter - did you not find that? And I only used 65% chocolate rather than the 'at least 70%' that she recommends! I'm not testing it again, I'm going to try it with milk chocolate when we're over there and if it's horrible, tough!

Birdie, I think you should definitely apply for both jobs as long as you can legitimately explain why you want each one, like Tasha says. (Tasha, that's so nice of you to offer a CV clinic!)

I had a second interview last Monday for a job that I quite want and have been waiting to hear. I have no phone signal at work and I finally got a voicemail last night and I managed to delete the message halfway through - IDIOT! So, I still don't know the verdict! And I've left a message and emailed but nobody's got back to me so I probably look like a DESPERATE idiot to boot.

Wow, well done on the spinning Birdie! It's hardcore! I haven't been in an exercise mode for ages; I'm more in baking mode at the moment. I've bought my creme de menthe in anticipation of making Grasshopper Pie on Sunday - i think it will be a good halloweeny sort of pudding.

I've only made it with milk chocolate, we're not grown up enough for dark! I even put white chocolate buttons on the top to really bring home the fact that we're just big kids!

ETA: What a mistake-a to make-a Poddle! Totally sounds like something I'd do! I hope the verdict is good!

Oh and my spinning is quite... reserved... for the time being! I'm too scared to stand up when it's on really low resistance and go for it so I spend most of the time peddling like mad sat down, trying to stand up, wobbling a lot, sqeaking with fear and sitting down again! The instructor must think I'm mad! It's scary though!!!!

Oh no! Hope they don't hold it against you Poddle! If they actually phoned though it sounds positive, no? (I actually rang myself and left a voicemail on my own phone the other day - horrible, I had to cringe all the way through my telephone-voice message so I knew what button to press to delete it!)

Birdie so the milk choc was fine? No probs with consistency? What chocolate do you use? I need it to be good, there's a £1000 prize! (I wish)

I just used Cadbury's and it was fine. Just be really careful when you're melting it since it's not cooking chocolate and goes lumpy quite easily. Serve it in nice little espresso cups maybe with a biscuit on the side for style and it'll be nice!

I went to two banks today to get info on business bank accounts as I need to open one next week. My own bank were fine, but I went to Natwest and the lady said 'is it for a school project?' and I then had to convince her it was a real business, after a few minutes she said 'I'm sorry I hope I didn't offend you, but we don't have many 17 year olds asking about business bank accounts' .... to which I replied 'I'm 26 in 2 months'!!! So, this weekend will be spent sorting out my wardrobe to get rid of anything too informal and childlike, throw out anything frayed or with holes, I will no longer wear my snowman scarf NIM got me to work/the bank, and I'm going to give mum back the boots I tend to wear to work which she got 11 years ago, and have lost at least half the fake fur trim, and are a bit mishapen and have lost a bit of the shape so slouch about my ankles. I will also throw out all tights with holes (even ones you can't see), pants that only stay up if I wear trousers with them, bras which don't fit, and try to work out how to do some sort of more adult hairstyle than a ponytail that will keep my mop out my face when I'm at work.
