Frosted windscreen?

i have a small pump up pressure spray bottle that i fill with hot tap water which i use to spray onto the frozen glass, it steadily melts the ice instead of risking breaking the glass and unfreezes the wipers and softens the blades, and as it clears i keep spraying to stop it freezing again and turn the wipers and the blower on. I also have an old wiper blade to clear the water off the side windows after i have sprayed them.:A R.I.P. I scrape. It's really easy and quick once you know how and have the right tool i.e. a scraper that's as good as a credit card.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
I use a fan heater on an extension lead from my garage, stick it in the car on the arm rest between the seats, go off to make my lunch and enjoy a cup of tea before setting off to work

I have a garage now but I used to put a cover over the screen which always worked a treat.
That still left the door windows though. Does anyone else find that frost/ice forms differently on their door windows compared to the windscreen? On my car it often seems more 'crumbly' and scrapes off far more easily than the windscreen. Any boffins out there with an explanation!?
In the past I've also used "night before" de-icer which was surprisingly effective. Any ice which formed was slushy and came off with very little effort.0 -
I have an old shower curtain in my car. I use it on the cover of the windscreen on a night I'm expecting frost (and by day, it gets used as a cover for the back seat of the car if I'm taking the dogs anywhere)
If I get caught out, and forget to cover the windscreen, then I use a card, but not my own....I use Dh's;)
If I'm at work, after a nightshift, I roll a bag of warm (37.5 degrees) saline up and down the windscreen till it melts (I'm a theatre nurse, so have access to this, hee hee), or sweet talk a porter into scraping the screen, in return for a bacon butty from the canteen (ok, I'm not money saving, but saving the frostbite!)**This space is available to rent**0 -

I used to do that. It also means the car is nice and warm when you get into it.0 -
Old recordable cd's or anything by Daniel O'Donnel work well as well.0

I glare at it. Usually melts it fast.

Use 5 litre plastic container with HOT water from tap.
This is enough for windscreen, wing mirrors, back window and side windows.
Start wipers.
Drive off.
Done this for hundreds of years and never had a cracked windscreen - it's toughened glass so it will not crack.
Its quite uncoomon for a screen to be uncommon these days what make of car is it.
The hot water idea is a very bad one ive seen people do it for years then one day crack or even bang with the side glass.
Still keeps me busy !

A sheet of cardboard the night before or give myself an extra 5 minutes to scrape it off.0
