Frosted windscreen?
Comments
-
My next door neighbour pours boiling water on on winter mornings,
I'm just waiting and wating for a big CRACKING noise.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
cool water works for me , be ready with the engine so you can work the wipers
less chance of damage as scraping may rub dirt over the screen0 -
Dont put your wipers on till its fully clear.
If they are frozen to the screen and turned on the rubber on them will rip to bits, make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Warm tap water for me too:j0

I also use warm water, my mum has also done it for many many winters and never had a problem (touch wood!). Then get wipers on quickly so it doesn't ice over again.
Watching people scrape looks too much like hard work to me!Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams0 -
Pan of hot water, run until the water is as hot as it gets, then poured over the windscreen.0

Start engine.
Use 5 litre plastic container with HOT water from tap.
This is enough for windscreen, wing mirrors, back window and side windows.
Start wipers.
Drive off.
Done this for hundreds of years and never had a cracked windscreen - it's toughened glass so it will not crack.0 -
Another for warm water. Make sure you get the wipers on quick because if you let it freeze again (and it will quite quickly) it'll be a lot harder to shift.
Either that or let it run.0 -

Fords have a handy "quickclear" windscreen which I use when it's bitterly cold and don't want to stand outside. I sit in the car, start the engine, turn on the heated front and rear screens, then wait until the ice starts to melt and slide. A quick wipe and I'm ready to drive.
It's a legal requirement to have a full and clear view of the road before driving onto a public road, so "portholes" won't do. It annoys me when I'm stuck behind some numpty doing 15mph along the road struggling to see out of a tiny hole and vigorously wiping away at the window while driving :mad:0
