I've moved your threadI have to tell you lot cos there's no-one else to tell right now, lol.
All manner of sympathy welcome.
And yes, it's related to money saving because we can't flipping afford for tradesmen to do the work so muggins here has to.
I'm now sat here with a big wad of kitchen roll and loads of electrical tape wrapped round my hand. Thought it might have been a stitches job tbh but it seems to have stopped bleeding now. It's very sore.
No medical advice needed or asked for, thank you.
That's the rest of the day wasted now, the cut is on the palm of my hand and opens when I move it. (But I can still type with one hand.
).
This house is never going to get finished.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice on DIY here and even the best and safest way to use a stanley knife

Drill through a knuckle and then see it through to taking part of a tendon out, that's when it starts to get moderately painfulRemember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0

:rotfl:
Shame it's not...I'm going through them at a rate of knots right now, lol.
Cheers.
You know you can sharpen them, don't you?
Leave them IN the knife and sharpen them on an oilstone. Won't be as sharp as they are when they're new, but will be sharp enough to do your other hand.:p
just kidding - a sharp work knife is safer than a blunt one since you use less pressure to do the cut, and therefore are less likely to slip.
You can also wear a glove on your non-cutting hand to minimise injuries.
buying decent blades will make them last longer too... normally they're called "heavy duty"
Can you tell I'm from an industrial background?:)
Hope your hand feels better now, and that you got it seen to properly.;)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

A car-mechanic friend (and an electrician friend) always use duct tape on their cuts
post #13

Hero swears on the use of duct tape .... and he is fixing his nose!0 -
Don't worry, I managed to cut a finger off on a bench saw.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

on a more serious note..with regards to tetanus if you were immunised as a child you shouldn't need further boosters.
See http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Tetanus-Immunisation.htm
Is this true?
Anyone?............
I don't think your correct, sorry if you are.
My belief is you need a tetanus every 10 years as an adult!0 -
Well, from reading that link, the answer appears to be 'it depends' - on your age, and also on the number of jabs you had in your youff. Is this true?

Current school leavers should be OK, and those born since 1961 should also be OK, as long as they had all their jabs throughout their childhood. Some of us older ones might not be, but I think I might be because I think I've had a couple of boosters since leaving school.
Does that help?Signature removed for peace of mind0
