I split open the top of my thumb with a Stanley knife in my first ever job.

Sadly it's the only way you learn how to cut correctly.
    Been away for a while.

Now you've had the tea and sympathy here's a link offering 2 for 1 Stanley blades...

OK, so it's not really, but as a first aider I do feel compelled to stick the link in because it'll remind you for hand injuries you should seek medical attention.;)

As for cutting your finger being the only way to learn how to cut - I have great hand skills ( ooh er missus) and have had no need to cut myself over the years to prove I'm doing a grand job.

Look at what way you were holding the knife when you cut yourself and make sure you hold it more safely the next time ( this is moneysaving because if you keep cutting yourself you'll have to pay a pro to do it)

    hope it's feeling better today.:)

I did that, so have sympathy- was fitting bits in my car, left a screwdriver on the seat. Few minutes (and duct tape) later, was cursing, and swore I'd never do it again.

The next week, did the same thing on the other leg with a stanley knife..... :(

    Get better soon!

Any sympathy left over for a paper cut? It's very sore, and it wasn't even on a sharp piece of paper, just 3 or 4 perforated sheets I was folding to tear.

There's no blood, so even the squeamish can offer some ...
