The OP has not had an apology in a form they find acceptable. A written apology is a basic courtesy. I can't for the life of me work out why it wasn't the first thing Morrison's did.

I can fully understand why the OP has a bee in their bonnett about this, I would too. It may seem a small thing, but if it matters to the OP then Morrisons should have accommodated that at the earliest opportunity.

The OP did nothing wrong, Morrisons screwed up in a pretty big way (IMHO) so should provide an acceptable apology, end of story.
And how did Morrisons screw up? Scenario. Theft at Petrol Station. Min Wage Girl thinks it was OPs car that had stolen Petrol. Police go round to investigate. Find very quickly that OP was not the party, so pursue no further.

OP then wants all Morrisons staff to write 70,000 word thesis on the worng doings of the checkout girl, so they can frame it and sell it on ebay?
  • Ooops, as it possibly is a Police case, Morrisons are probably not told who tehy have interviewed and dismissed in this matter!

    What a load of rubbish!

Look, I'm not knocking the person on the till at Morrisons. But it WAS an error if Morrison's security people didn't tie up the pump usage with a till shortage and identify the correct person before involving the police - don't tell me they haven't got access to timed CCTV, of course they have. We don't even know (and probably never will) if anyone really did steal from Morrisons.

All the OP wants is a letter from Morisons saying "sorry we sent the police to the wrong address".

What on earth is so wrong with the OP wanting that?
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

Has the OP at any point said they wanted anything more than a letter of apology?

Or are you just jumping to conclusions?

Expecting better customer service is NOT unrealistic.

A letter of apology is reasonable and frankly Morrisons should have sent it. However I think putting this much time and effort into it seems a little extreme. I don't really see how the police turning up on your doorstep is a big issue. They came, saw the evidence and left, where is the harm in that? If the neighbours are gossips let them, thats hardly Morrisons fault anyway.

If you receive a letter of apology tomorrow, would that be a satisfactory closure to this case?

    Yes.

After initially saying an apology (which they got) would do.

Morrisons noted the theft to the Police, Police investigate, possibly all the vehicles that were on the forecourt at the time. It is a process of elimination.

No, got it, Morrisons have their own secret police force? Oh, and the camera to lock into the till was not working. Possibly this dos not work anyway? That way, unfortunately all persons who were there at the time are interviewed. to elliminate them from further enquiries.
(note I was only stopped 3 weeks ago today in Worcestershire, I did not kick up a stink, listened to what the PO said and we chatted, then we both got on our way. Now who should I get an apology from, 1 Ford because they allowed me to drive at an excessive speed in order to overtake a lorry? The Cheif Constable of Worcestershire because one of their plods pulled me over? No, I have no complaints at all, and no caution or notes on my licence either.

Also, once was held in the D&D because someone was attacked, alleged, did not mind as soon as the so called person who was attacked realised that there were more people who did not see anything and the police were talking to all of us, soon proffered a resason as to why sho had scratches on her arm!)

Get a life, get over it, people have better things to do, and if OP is that upset, she should tell her friends not to shop there instead.

I am off now to sign off the parish accounts, spend some £500 smackers from the Chief Constables community fund, paid for by louts who were up before the beak, on a new table tennis table and bats for the youth club, and a pint in the Dog and Duck

  • 06/10/10 - I called again, a bit angrier now and eventually had a verbal apology from customer service representative and was told a written apology from the store manager was on the way. I told them that they had a deadline of 14 days or I'd take it further.....................
14 days have passed, so have you taken it further or does 'taking it further' consist of posting on this forum? You have had an apology, why does it need to be written and why do you have the right to specify the from of apology? That said, if I were wronged I would like my apology handwritten by the MD in his own blood, drawn from his veins with a golden syringe.
