if you add $5 scratch resistance and £30 bifocals to a £49 frame you pay £84.
It is only the frame that is free therefore for the 2nd pair you pay $35.
For 2 pairs You pay £119 + delivery less groupon VOUCHER £49 + delivery = £70 + the £19 you paid groupon = £89 for 2 pairs.
not such good bargain after all especially when you consider the frames must cost less than £1 per pair to make.
i thought it was Martin's site's function to point out these type of matters.
must remember 12% cashaback in future from topcashback
I understand your viewpoint, but think you're being slightly unfair. We do charge extra for bi-focals and varifocals, at a cost of £30 for bi-focals and £75 for varifocals due to the extra effort involved in making them. However the majority of people don't need varifocal or bifocals, and this offer may not be exactly what you're after - even though you will save £33.95 on what you would normally pay.
It is true, however, to say that the second pair is entirely free and comes with our standard optical plastic uncoated lenses. We simply charge for additional coatings and bi/varifocals.
If you chose one of our £19 frames with the voucher you could add bifocals & scratch resistant coating and only pay a total of £24 for a pair of bi-focals.“Official Company Representative

the point is that matter should be addressed up front accurately. it was being addressed as
"Urgent! TWO £49 pairs of prescription glasses for £19."
Currently Glasses Direct has a two for one pairs of prescription glasses for £49 deal on, meaning using the voucher you can get two pairs for £19 inc delivery.
Two pairs of prescription glasses for £19
Combine the Groupon voucher with Glasses Direct's buy one get one free offer and use it on its £49 glasses range and you can effectively get two pairs of glasses for £9 plus £3.95 postage.
There are 59 different styles available at £49 that can are also in the 2for1 offer and Glasses Direct says good stock is available. See all its £49 glasses.
These don't have to be the same prescription so you can buddy up with friends/family and split the cost
Now that was not the fault of glasses direct. that was Martin who should be taking opains to do better.Groupon put it as follows and that will have been done by Glassesdirect: --
£19 for a £52.95 voucher redeemable against all items, that includes two pairs of prescription glasses with free delivery from Glasses Direct, the UK's largest online optical retailer
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
- Glasses Direct save you an average of 68% compared to high street opticians AND you receive a Free Second Pair on their GD frames costing £49 or more
- You can browse thousands of fashionable and affordable frames over hundreds of brands across designer and own-label collections all in one place online
- Have your glasses delivered direct to your door, without having to travel back and forth to the opticians
- With 80% of their single vision orders shipped within 3 days, you will receive your glasses when you really need them
Glasses direct should have flogged the idea as with voucher 2 pairs of £49 glasses single vision for £19 [coatings/lens upgrades extra per pair] OR 1 pair of Bifocals for £19 [coatings/lens upgrade extra]
that would have been accurate and fair and still got results0 -
I'm so sorry, this does seem to be the case for that frame. I've asked the product & buying team to check with the suppliers if there are any more of these available.
I'd like to get someone in touch with you to help you find a pair of bigger frames on the site that you'd be happy with. I'll have to ask one of the moderators to put us in touch as I can't message you directly.
I didn't hear back from anyone from GD so I called late this afternoon and explained the whole chain of events. The sales Rep was 'unaware' of any 'online' GD Rep or the MSE thread but patiently listened.
I also pointed out that the frames were now showing back 'in stock' at an increased £89. He was both patient and helpful and asked me what I wanted him to do. I replied that I would like two pairs of the glasses I had identified at the original '2 for £49' previously advertised.
After checking, he told me there was only one pair of that particular frame left in stock but recommended another suitably 'large' model at the same price.
In conclusion, I got one of the original pair I wanted plus a different pair at the original '2 for £49' plus 2 x £5 for the anti-scratch coating.
So a little patience and persistence paid off for me (pending their arrival of course).

While this is for a completely different deal, I noticed the Groupon rep posting in here so will post this question where they might see it..
Why does the headline (in huge font) for your current deal for Edinburgh say:
"Today’s deal: £20 instead of £50 for two people to enjoy a starter and main course such as lobster, crab or oysters" and yet in the small print it says "£5 supplement when ordering lobster, crab or lemon sole".
Surely this is misleading as it is not £20 for a "main course such as lobster, crab". I know it's 'only £5' more but that's not point and in any case if that supplement is per person it raises the cost of the deal by 50%"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

I know I've left it late, but I want to use my voucher. It ends 22nd and it's now 19th.
If I go to the !!!!!!! in the email, I get "the webpage no longer exists". If I try to go through the usual glassdirect site, I get "Error- amount: Amount not supplied or invalid"

I am getting the same as the above !
The voucher expires on the 22nd November and yet I cannot redeem it. We are still well within the time to redeem.
Please can the GD rep advise. There must be many of us in the same boat who have left it until the last week simply because trying to order in the early days was difficult.0
