Oh no I reserved the steel one yesterday but notice its now back to full price, do you think i'll still get it at half price? I do have the print out to prove this.

Take the print out with you, I didn't have one and they still gave me the right one , after I kicked up a fuss. If they mention substitute , you'll most likely be offered the same one I was. It will be interesting to hear if they do. The assistant only came up with the right one when she was losing the sale. There's lots of catalogues lying around have a look before you pay for the item, the slicers were all half price in that too.

Thanks, managed to reserve one in Poole (Ringwood Road). They had another if it's useful to anyone?

I'm getting a breadmaker for xmas and have started cooking joints for the week now, and my hand slicing is terrible!! This should help a lot.

Thank you, just got back. It came up at £49.99 but they honoured my print out no problem.

I've got the Cookworks one, they never mentioned a substitute.

    Cant wait to try it!

Yep, I got the same version as yours. It's going back to the store. If you check the catalogue number your are going to see that's not the same. How annoying! I would never thought of that! A cheap replacement!

Lovetopaint, thank you. I'm going back to take the cheap one!

I went and checked this on mine (still in the box)
It doesn't mention folding down at all. Also mine says 120-130 watt but the one on the website says 150w.

From that i'm guessing I also have a cheaper quality one, its going back!

Has everyone else got besides us three got the correct folding item?

When I went to collect mine today and got to the till I was told it was £49.99. I said no its not it was half price at £24.99, the till operator did something on the nearby computer and I paid £24.99 he did not argue about it. I still have the confirmation on my e mail but did not take it with me.

  • Sorry to hear some have been messed about by the store with substitutions, that's not on. Good that people hear about it though, so they can watch out for it.

Used my slicer (£14.99 one) with more confidence today. Think I was being a bit heavy handed the first time, pushing the plastic guard almost onto the blade. Avoid doing that! Gently bently is the key I found out today.

The platform comes off too; blade out first, fold up the platform to the body, turn upside down and carefully wiggle up the platform from it's hinges. Being plastic, I was careful.

Dismantled all dishwashable parts, washed, anti-bac'd and reassembled in ten minutes. The food tray folds in on itself once removed, which I hadn't realised before. All packs nicely into the box it came in. Love my the slicer even more now that I am getting the hang of it :j.
Healthy eating aim per day: 3 fruits, 3 or more vegetables, 3 low-fat dairy portions, 3 starch portions, 2-3 lean protein portions.
