Can you use Soda Crystals in your COLOUR wash? I've read that you can use it in your whites, but what about colours and darks??

    Hi Mellika,

I use soda crystals in both colour and dark washes and haven't had any problems.

  • When I re opened a Cub Scout Pack, the kit loft was in an terrible state. I must say Soda Crystals helpd renovete (clean and remove lime scale from) several hard to replace large aluminium pieces of kit. It worked an absolute treat.

Just been on the dripak website and didn't realise what a load of info there is on there. They even have the leaflets, that you used to send off for, as a download.

I am a total convert to both Borax and Soda Crystals :) I have started using Borax in the washing with just one tablet of Ariel, as well as white vinegar instead of fabric conditioner and I can't believe how much the washing has changed. It smells lovely and is so much softer than before. Yep I am a total convert, so much so that we are going to be ordering the bulk packs this weekend :)

I see there is a thread about uses for Stardrops (I am a recent convert thanks to this forum) and wondered if all you clever old-stylers could tell me what I can use washing soda/soda crystals for, and is there a difference?.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I'm not really that OS but I just pop some in my washing ball with the liquid soap and conditioner.

There HAS been a difference though to the smell and the machine :D

    Hi consultant31,

There is a thread about using soda crystals that should help so I've added your thread to it to keep the replies together.

well I would think all the pipes from my kitchen sink to the drains are probably plastic (where is robowen when you need him? probably making treacle toffeeicon12.gif) and its not harmed them....icon7.gif

I just bought some today for my sink/bath drain and spotted this old post, I never did get any treacle toffee, wonder if he is still making it down under :D

I bought some for a particulary stubborn stain in one of my white polo shirts. Only cost me 39p (will check) from Morrisons, for a 1kg bag.:cool:

This stain looks orange coloured, and is only a small speck. So far, Oxy, Bold and Stardrops haven't shifted it - even when all combined, on a 60c wash!:(
Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.
  • Try mixing oxy or vaniush stain remover into a paste with a little water and leaving it sitting on the stain for an hour or so before washing.
