Do Soda Crystals soften the water ? Our waters really hard and I wondered if we put something in the water tank to soften the water it would make a difference through out the house, including washing machine.
I feel sure my Mum used them for that but can't swear to it

Kethry is right...you don't need to use powder to add soda crystals to your wash. I add about half a cup.

I'll add your post to the main soda crystals for washing thread as it helps to keep all the suggestions together.

There's a list list of the things it can be used for, as well as bicarb/borax/ vinegar - from the dripak site.

I use around half the normal amount of soap powder PLUS around the same amount of soda crystals. Not had any problems with this amount - any stains still come out fine.

    Hi samj,

I do the same as Olliebeak, half powder and half crystals.

I'll add your thread to the one that angeladavis linked to as it helps to keep all the replies together.
