Not really....I just feel a bit clueless doing my own little "tests" and could do with some proper advice I guess. Thanks for the offer - if I have any questions I'll definitely send them your way...or if you think of anything that might be beneficial then please tell me,

CAFC - I feel :( about this thread. After recent happenings I think the fb page has become very popular and people are posting there instead of here. I've been guilty of it myself as you do get an answer much faster on there but I don't get the same satisfaction (?) from it. I think it's because you don't get the same level if detail or such long posts as you do on here.

I didn't really get any proper advise as such - just asked my reasons why I felt dairy was causing the eczema -same as you, reaction to foods and no reaction when avoided.

Prescribed soya formula as soya milk isn't recommended as a main drink for under 2's, but is fine for cooking/cereal etc. Went through a typical days food - all fine there. Gave me a list of ingredients to avoid.

Basically we had been avoiding dairy whilst waiting for the referral, and she put my mind at ease that I was doing the right thing, that the soya substitutes were also ok to use.

Calcium was my main thought, but Weezl gave me some great advise about the using ready break.

hi NMS just popping into say that you probably know this already, and sorry if you do, but supermarket own brand version of ready brek is the cheapest by far way to add extra calcium into a child's (or anyone's) diet, it has 1333mg of calcium per 100g of product whereas things like cheddar cheese has 750g per 100g. xx
    weezl74 wrote: »

:) not wanting to sound like I work for ready brek
:rotfl:but I put it into homemade bread and cakes for my Mr Independant (to boost his calcium)? Just a thought which might help :)

I am guilty of the FB thing too - It's much easier to skim through FB and forget to come on here because I already feel updated :(

another question. Asking it here as I don't know where else to ask it!
I did a couple of boots online orders during the extra points weekend bonanza. I ordered something which now its here isn't what I htought it was (a toy so not consumable or with a BBE). I want to return it, but don't want to loose out on the points I earned. I'd happily exchange to keep the value the same as there is still a couple of things I need to buy for christmas. Am I able to do this? Am I going to loose the points anyway? how best to solve my problem? thanks

I'm sure I have returned something for an exchange with no bother. I think it would only be an issue if you wanted a refund and it was part of a 3for2 or something.

 I posted and it's gone! Or I forgot to post, which is also entirely possible.

:j for Mr Mel, hope it's a sign of things to come.

Thanks Gill, but can you take my name out of your post please? ;) I wish I could help with the dairy/weaning question, all I can say is that I've noticed that Miss M's nappies are significantly nastier after grown-up type dairy than baby-dairy so maybe you're right. Maybe stick to the baby stuff and check his RDA of calcium so you can be sure he's getting it even if it's not through conventional dairy? And I'm jealous of your Harry Potter trip, I don't want to see it in German so am either going to do a totally legal download or wait for the DVD.

Sorry your trip was pointless Merfe, that is a ridiculous time to have a clinic for people who have older kids though. Can you arrange a drop in another time? I know my Liverpool friend is able to stop by the diabetic nurse clinic when necessary, although not just randomly as they try to make sure they don't expose littlies to diabetic people who also have colds.

Very glad you're feeling less sick Susan, but at the same time I am hoping the sickness is a good sign that your baby is a tightly clinging on one making wonderful progress. I'm thinking of you.

Happy anniversary R.mac, are you still snowed in? You could make bride and groom snowpeople ;)
I also think you can take your Boots thing into the shop and ask for an exchange, and they don't check your points or anything.

    Feel better NMS :grouphug:

Good luck with the move Red, is there no way to harness A's energy? Miss M is getting pretty good at transferring stuff from one place to another, or maybe you could get her to wipe down corners or something?

Hugs busy Becles, hope you get caught up soon. You're always so busy that a backlog must be a nightmare for you :(

CAFC I am also worried. I like that I get to use !!!! words when I want on FB but at the same time I like this thread and have been considering leaving the FB group so I have no choice but to concentrate on this one IYSWIM. But at the same time there are things on that one that wouldn't be posted here because they are too personal, too revealing or too rude (you know who you are!!), and since there are people PPRd who can't see on here who I value I do not want to lose them either. But we are all very busy and only have a limited amount of time to spend online and so there is only so much "internet us" to go around and so I am torn and concerned and worried that if I spend my time here I will miss the person who's not able to post here but if I am over there more often I will miss the new people coming in.

Last thing: I notice that Bruno has not posted anywhere all day and I am hopeful that he has some news for us when he eventually surfaces.

Actually, the last thing was about my hallucination, per Gill's request - Miss M was crying this morning and as I sat up to go get her I swear I saw an old lady rushing over to her cot. And then Husband walked in behind/through her.

    Edit: Thanks Ethel :)

CAFC, you're not the only one. I like the FB group, but I feel like it's become 'too' popular. I like this thread and sometimes the longer, meaningful posts feel better than the one-liners you get on FB. Both have their merits, but they have rather doubled the workload. (am I the only one who finds FB harder to catch up on? much more scrolling, anyways)

SS, DH is convinced there is a ghost in our flat that Finn can see. I remain skeptical.

Gill, sorry your post confused me (lol) - isn't there something about yoghurt that tends to make it more 'okay' than other dairy? hmm...

    can you elaborate:
    1. because its quiet? Yes,although it does make it easier to catch up
    2. because its a public forum? Not so much
    3. because you still feel unesay after recent experiences? Probably more so this.....
    4. because you think someone you know is on here?
    5. you don't like it anymore? its because i like it so much :(
    6. because r.mac's 5 other suggestions aren't right :pAs if r.mac is ever wrong!

ETA: or is it the cliquey thing again - if so someone said how I feel about it really well so I may go dig it out....

I dont really get the whole cliquey thing, as in i dont think it is.... There are some people who i dont feel able to comment to/give advice because their diddlies are older than L, or I have no knowledge of the issue they may want help with, so im just a vibe poster, and then sometimes i feel bad not asking after things, because i cant remember diddly squat about whose whose and doing what....:rotfl:So i feel like im always jabbering about myself too much... and I probably (well not probable I do) spend too much time on here....

It occurs to me that this could be a :money: if dodgy and potentially immoral way of getting essentials, if one only wanted to buy two gift items - pick up a third of similar value and get it free, return it for an exchange on the grounds of its being a duplicate gift and get the stuff you might need. I don't think I'd do it but it came to mind as an option if people are struggling.

I also find the FB group harder to follow - and I've missed a few things because the information is somewhere I've not seen it, or it's a few pages back. [redacted]

Morning all, I'm here - unfortuantely I can't be anywhere else cos of the bloomin snow/ice situation outside. Still can't get the pram out and daren't go far with E in the sling in case I slip - I dread the school run. How's everyone else coping? I think I may be going mad!

I was going to take E today but figure its best not to with the weather here, I'll take her next week. I'm not at all worried so I'm sure one week won't hurt.

Happy anniversary - are you doing anything nice.

    .

thank you - we have no babysitters as they are all on holiday  so its a very quite night in. Plus we are still snowed in, though hubby did go to work today - it took him over an hour and a half as he had to walk a long way to find an operational bus route. Plus I've not done the usual card, present etc as its not generally reciprocated, so this year I just haven't bothered! But the weather is my excuse ;) (and a genuine one TBH)

Like you I'm really scared of the snow and ice and LOs, and my LO is not so little anymore, though she still has a deep hatred of the snow. 'no like it, no like it, no like snowwwwwww' is all we hear when she looks out of the window!

its not on 342 or anything - a storage box thingy thats much smaller than I realised. I might try and exchange it when I can get out again.

This is normal IMHO. I don't agree with everyone on here. I'm not always right either though and I think that's part of the beauty of the forums. However, people can be interpreted wrongly as sarcasim and written 'speech' doesn't come over well in print on a screen IYSWIM. But not everyone on here is a best buddy, nor do I know them very well (even those posters I've 'known' for years). And I can be a bit senstive at times so try to remind myself to take things with a pinch of salt and just avoid the post or poster that has offended me :rotfl:

People who are braver than me sometimes call people on what they have posted - thats up to them. I prefer fluffy pictures - and judging by your previous efforts I reckon you do to ;)

(did any of that come out right?)

Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks FB is more troublesome to try and read thoroughly. :) Though I suppose it is better if you want to pick and choose what you read - I'm an all-or-nothing gal. :D

    Afternoon,

I've been busy internet shopping this morning, been and transferred some money into the bank account to cover some bills that are due.

Just need to collect Katie from playgroup this afternoon.

Katie is still coughing and her tongue is still sore, I'm picking yoghurt up when I get her from playgroup.

I have a job interview tomorrow afternoon :)

    ((((Hugs))) to everyone.

I try and keep up on both as much as possible.

I like this read I've posted on all of them :)

Am I bad mummy for thinking of using Katie's sore mouth as a way to drop her morning bf? She's refusing anyway as it hurts.

She is coming at the end of the month but asked me to get him weighed in between which is basically today at the local clinic but I find the clinic times a bit inconvenient. Its 2pm till 3:30pm but I have school pick up at 3pm and baby normally feeds between 2-2:30 so he isn't hungry on the school run.
I was asked to take Alice to a clinic to be weighed when the HV visit was cancelled but I decided it wasn't necessary. Obviously only you can make the decision but don't go if you think you don't need to just because the HV asked you to. I imagine they are probably supposed to tell you you should go.
