He had a bath most nights to help settle him when we was a wee bubs, but tried to avoid to many shampoos, soaps etc. Now it is the sniff test lol. Always wash face in the morning and when it's dirty (eg jammy cheeks), hands a lot, and bum gets thorough clean (roll/wipes) when he poops! I think washing too often is as bad as not enough, esp. if you use loads of cleaning stuffs! Teeth are done morning and night, and they do it at nursery too (there 3 mornings a week).Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Love that pic becles!
Mmmmm, i forgot how nice advent calender is! Im on day 8 so far0 -
Our two (5 and 3) get 3 or 4 baths/showers a week in the evening - we've got out of the everynight routine now, but they both go through phases of gatecrashing my shower in the morning - the little one is the worst as he doesn't understand the concept of sharing. He stands right in the middle of the water spray and refuses to budge up so I can get some - not so bad in the summer but now its freezing its not so funny.Adventure before Dementia!0

Susan that's really sad
I am mega excited as I am now going to the Good Food show tomorrow in Birmingham! My sister is going on an organised trip with her uni and found out today there's a spare ticket so I'm going along. Woohoo.
MDW I can't believe that driver. How fast must they have been going. Scary. Lucky they didn't hurt anyone.0 -
Right. Here you go Weezl, (and anyone else who cares)... my day so far:
6:30ish - got up. Izzy wanted to draw pictures so I put cbeebies on, helped her find her pens and paper, and sat on the sofa with the laptop. At some point we had breakfast and I got Izzy dressed. She had some milk and we spent a bit of time with her clambering over me. I scrapped condensation off the windows with her help.
8am ish - left her playing with balls of wool while I went to clean the bath. Izzy wanted to watch rabits on youtube, so I stopped cleaning, switched off cbeebies and switched on youtube. Cleaning is interupted each time a video finished. Also tantrum because i've turned the light off and aparently it is now dark.
8:30 - load washing machine then sit down with laptop while Izzy does drawing again, joining in when she wants me to. (She tells me what she wants me to draw. It is normally daddy)
8:45 - I put some music on then leave her with wool again while I wash up. Before long she comes to stand on a chair and "help" me. Finish washing up, dry kitchen and get her into dry clothes. Temper because she has an accident and so wants to wear a nappy. More milk while I pootle on the laptop.
9:30 - shoes on and walk to playgroup. (big achievement - we come home with Izzy wearing the same clothes she went in - no accidents!)
11:40 - back from playgroup with a little girl who is very tired and full of temper. Cbeebies on while i make some lunch. I try and tidy toys from the floor while food cooks, but every time I put something away it comes straight back out again. Untangle and reroll ball of pink wool instead. Eat food then cuddle tired girl.
12:50 - start putting shoes on to go to tesco then take Izzy for a nap in the buggy. She walks to the shop, and i win the fight to get her into the buggy when we get there. She stays awake on the way home - i planned to go for a walk round the block to get her to sleep, but she demands to go home (don't blame her, it is freezing, even with blankets and the rain cover to keep the wind off). Try to get her to sleep in bed when we get home, but no dice.
2:10. Give up on a nap (and therefore any chance of me getting one!). Sit on sofa zombie like with the laptop for 15 mins admist the mess till Izzy spills a drink and drags me to my senses. Sort that out and tidy a few bits up. Emtpy kitchen bin and put shopping away. Offer Izzy biscuit but she wants an orange. Shame! Eat oranges while doing BP posts.
2:35 - build a tower while trying to subtly tidy up other toys at same time. Clear airer and hang washing out (with some distractions, but also some help). Spend a bit of time getting Izzy changed and onto the potty. Another load of washing on. Read a few books together until she starts biting me. Tell her off then ignore her while she strops (tidy a bit more while ignoring!)
Another hour or so of trying to tidy quicker than she makes a mess, alternated with poking the laptop. Start cooking her tea. Clear up half a pot of sprinkles she spills on the floor. Sit on sofa and do more searching and playing daft games while bouncing Izzy with my feet for a bit and singing.
4:30 - Izzy eats her tea and watches cbeebies. I drink hot chocolate and then try & do enough tidying to be able to hoover when she is done. Sit down with laptop while she finishes eating.
5:25 - hoover living room then sid down with laptop. Make call to insurance company.
5:50 - chop up veg and put under grill ready to cook later. Buy new insurance online. Get Izzys room ready for bed and put pjs etc on bathroom.
6:30ish - get Izzy into bathroom.
7:10 ish back into living room for milk and pratting about before bed.
7:50 - put sleeping child into bed - no bedtime routine tonight!
I have since put the grill on to cook my food, then sat and typed this up. I will tidy up (again!) in here, but that will only take a few mins with no-one making a mess again behind me. I SHOULD wash up, but I'm not going to. Instead I'm going to have a soak in the bath
I should note the following - 1 - I have the laptop on all the time, so I'm on it far more than suggested with lots of 5 min bursts (if that) in between doing other things. (I'm still interacting with Izzy while I'm on the laptop though!) 2 - our flat is small enough so that if I'm in the bathroom/wheverer and Izzy is in the living room (or vice versa) we are not very far away from each other, and can hear exactly what each other are doing! 3 - I've not listed all the times I've taken Izzy to the potty - we've done lots of that today
That is fairly normal for a not-at-work day when DH is working in the evening. I've achieved all my got-to-do-every-day tasks, plus a few other bits and bobs, and taken Izzy to playgroup. Reading that back I spend a lot of time putting the same toys away again and again, and I should probably not bother during the day (unless i need to hoover, or we are trying to make space to play with her trainset or something) and just have a tidy up at bed time. My "housework" time would be far better spent clearing the surfaces rather than the floor, or whatever else needs doing. (Also, my houseworky tip - I clean the bathroom while Izzy is in the bath. Other than the bath itsself of course. Seeing as it is time I will be in there anyway)

My 3 had a bath (shower when older) everyday of their lives since they came home from the hospital - unless they were really poorly. It was part of their bedtime routine and I figured if I ingrained the habit in them, I wouldn't have any grungy, greasy, teenage boys refusing to wash and it worked! They're all extremely clean and well groomed. It's probably just me (OCD runs in our family) but I just couldn't feel the same about them and want to cuddle them if I knew they hadn't washed for several days.Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame
Love is a losing game0 -
MDW I didn't realise you were in Northwhich. I used to live there as a baby, and also as a 19 year old - I worked at Wincham Hall, but not for long!
