    *hugs* too all.

Had a brilliant day in the snow and really enjoyed it. Managed to get to Tesco (3 miles away) for some odds and ends this afternoon, but the roads were really bad.

I bathed mine everyday from birth as part of our night time routine. Once they got to toddler age, they could choose bath or shower. When my boys got to about 9-ish, they just went in either unsupervised.

My daughter has long hair so I just wash that once a week, unless it gets dirty somehow.

Quiet life, lovely to see your picture and words :j I am a massive fan of the Little Prince, such a beautiful story.

I am quite surprise to read how different views people have in regards to their kids' washing. I don't think there is any right or wrong, but it's interesting.

My ds, 7 showers every morning, my dd, 10 showers/bath every other day, but I have to remind her/pester her to do so.
  • My DD has a bath/shower 4x a week, playgroup days and after swimming.

When she was tiny it was once or twice a week. It's more since she started using the shower.

If she's around when either DH or I are in the shower we usually end up with company.

Shower every day and now she is eleven every morning - and soon will be brining in morning and evening. She gets sore otherwise. You can really tell the kids who don't bathe often - they don't smell and of course theyre not 'dirty', but their fingernails are always dirty.

That reminds me of comments made by a leading dermatologist a few years ago on Radio 4

He felt that a contributory factor in the rise of chilhood skin conditions was down to the children being bathed too often.

He said that the skins natural oils were being washed away and baby oil products did not replace them.
He felt that the old fashioned practice of 'top and tailing' should be used more often.

    Food for thought?

I agree with this for babies, but once they start going to the toilet independently, I think it's a different story.

2-3 times a week here unless we have a major issue like pukes or something. both girls of an age where they want to shower with mummy though so sometimes even less if they have showered with me.

  • my son used to suffer with really horrible dry red skin and he was bathed every day

now we bath him maybe twice a week some weeks only once and his skin is soft and supple and his hair is gorgeous!

I think people are too obsessed these days, it's a waste of water, money and time lol!

  • We don't have a pattern, it depends on what we are doing. If the kids need it, then obv they get dunked. Sometimes we might get the odd wet bed, that results in a morning shower. They get bathed/showered at least once if not twice a week but its not essential to our bedtime routine. We use wash at the sink or baby wipes most days. Until they turn into sweaty smelly objects i'm going down the line of less bathing = less ezcesma for DD.

Its different in summer they get more mucky outdoors and in paddling pool constantly which often turns into a bubble bath!

    Andrew gets bathed weekly.

He sometimes gets a quick dunk in the bathroom basin (yes, he's still that small!) if he's particularly mucky down below.

It's actually quite refreshing to read that other babies/toddlers are bathed as infrequently. A wipe-down with a baby wipe or two gets most grime off :D
