I wasn't vacc'ed against whooping cough and the only person I know of in my life time to have had it is the lovely Alice - who has made a full recovery I think.
And had been vaccinated. But the whooping cough vaccine only lasts for about ten years anyway.

it was me asking about the baskets? migh have a look around and see what i can find i need around 5 so the cheaper the better!

My secret takeaway book came today along with 2 other copies for my mil and step dads new wife! putting them into their hampers if i ever find any :D
i have got nearly all the kids apart from clothes and stocking fillers but am really stuck with M??? any ideas age 10 into everything, loves music, texting, writing, reading and driving me up the wall :D

I've not looked this year, but in the past I've got lovely baskets in In-Store/Poundstretcher. They're not dead cheap but cheaper than many places.

I've also used bags from here instead of baskets for hampers. They are lovely.

My HV is/was awesome. I haven't seen her for months but her motto is 'if it's not a problem for you and baby, it's not a problem'. When H was tiny (like 3 weeks old) she used to say well done to me just for going to clinic/groups, which when you've just had a c-section is a really nice thing to hear :o.

At H's 8 month check the nurse (it wasn't my HV) basically said it's not really there for people like us who are very switched on about issues and development but they like to check everyone to make sure no-one less 'able' slips through the net. I know not everyone likes this approach, but actually I can cope with a bit of prying if it means that someone who needs it gets some help that might otherwise get missed.

Charlotte has had all the vaccinations apart from swine flu. The hype was well over by the time we got the letter asking her to go, so there didn't seem much point in putting her through it.
We were never offered it anyway.

I got DH front row tickets to the Cycling World Championships in February. :D I am so hoping he is gonna be very grateful! ;) :rotfl:

I've bought mine a remote control Jeep which was half price and I know there's a couple of DVD box sets he wants so I'll get him those too.

Going a bit OT maybe but we had a rubbish Christmas last year, didn't even get to spend it together so we want a proper one this year

Also it will be Squeak's first Christmas and we're spending it at home although sadly no other family are visiting. Might see if my friend will come over, she usually sees her Dad who lives just down the road.

I've picked up a digital camera for my 8 year old DD, anyone think she's too young for it? I know OH will think so, I haven't told him about it yet!

It sounds like the 8 week check is just what they did at our 6 week check. They get you to make an appointment for both of you and do it then.

Delain, I'd say if your DD was fairly responsible in terms of not being likely to break/lose it, then she isn't too young. Kids can take some amazing pictures, because their perspective is so different from adults.

BM - Fantastic news about the panto. A and I love the panto. We're going with my mum to a local amateur performance this year, which reminds me, I also need to look into tickets for the Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe as A desperately wants to go - I think that's going to really cost me :(.
I know, saved myself a fortune, now I can use that money on Xmas presents - IF ONLY I KNEW WHAT TO ACTUALLY BUY FOR EVERYONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE:mad:

I wish that school didn't just hand out letters for the next day though, when I went to pick her up there is one about "Dress as you please" for November 19th - children in need, pay £1. Hello, nursery has no uniform, so what, its' another day then and I feel obliged to pay £1?

I already pay them in advance :p unlike my rent, what more do they want :rotfl:

CAFC, forgot to say (was being kicked by madam) that you totally shouldn't be bullied by them regarding the care of L. However, there are children who 'slip through the net' so to speak, and there have been several high profile cases of the system failing these children. I know that's not the case with you, but unfortunately I do know people who have done this.

BM, I haven't done any Christmas shopping at all yet :D

  • I've just started Christmas shopping on Wednesday - normally we're finished by now (DH hates the thought of leaving it to the last minute, unlike me!), but with all the house stuff, we haven't done anything.
;) Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky' ;)

    Hello:)

Daisy has been such a brill little baby today:jWe've been here there and everywhere and she's been awake most of the day grinning away!:D Currently jumping in her jumperoo. She shocked us last night by turning in it!!

I've finally got my postnatal check tomorrow with the doc. Don't intend to see a HV unless I have any concerns. I had to actually chase one up when Daisy was around 14 days old as I'd been forgotton about!!

I intend to have vaccinations but fully support those who don't;) I had whooping cough as a child. I've had suspected swine flu and sadly someone I went to school with died late in pregnancy because of it. The baby was saved.
