ok how can i politely inform the health visitors that I do not care for their involvement?

They tried calling again today, but i answered just as they hung up, so i called back and got the snotty reception woman, gave her my name and she said she's se if she could call through some numbers to see who was calling me, she put me on hold for about 10 seconds, and then comes back and says noone is claiming the call, are you sure it came from here.... so politely said I just did an automatic recall on the number that called me so yes, and then she says well they'll call you back then.....

Honestly all they do is bring me stress..... I bet its because I still havent taken L to get him weighed, but how do you politely tell them and them actually listen that you have no concerns with your children and if you did you know full well the number to your gp and how to get to hopital? That and Im fed up of being spoken to like im a child, i know i look young and its partially my own insecurities but they do it to husband as well..... like we're oiky teenagers who havent got a clue!

rant over but suggestions welcome x

I'd just ignore them tbh, ive only got jasmine weighed once and ive never been chased to weigh her again, if i have any concerns about her health i'll see a doctor, theres no problems with his weight gain is there? if i remember right he's a chubby chops aint he? :D I've not seen mine since the 8month check and wont see her now till her 2year check,

Good luck keely for next year ;)

I'm having such a boring week.. another lazy day in today, jasmine had a bad night last night so im expecting her to have a good nap, (she better do anyway!), have done all my domestic goddess duties so gonna chill for a bit now, might enter some comps or something..

ok hubby text from work, and they left him a voicemail (apparently im not worthy of one!) to book his 8 week check which ive been trying to do since i had to cancel the last appt, and have left 3 voicemails and noone ever called me back.... He's 5 months now so really pointless them doing an 8 week check!
And they want us to sign an immunisation withdrawal form..... because they havent known since before he was born, and i asked whether we needed to sign anything the very first visit we had from a HV!!!

    God sake!!!!

  • Have you already explained to them CFAC?
I explained to my HV that I wasnt really interested in seeing them again, especially after they cancelled at last minute and then just didnt turn up another time. She was a little snooty about it but I didnt have to see her again ;)

    ETA Sorry cross posted

Esio, is little man maybe going through a growth spurt/ teething, which might be causing him to wake more?

CAFC, not sure how you'd go about getting rid of HV unwanted attentions. Ours has done absolutely jack all, and we never hear from them, other than the rather pointless weaning chat. I know it's not something you want to do, but would just taking L to get weighed get them off your back? You wouldn't have to do it every month, just show your face once, so they can tick a box or whatever it is they do. Can't see the point of them myself, so I know were you're coming from.

That might be my next option.....
They always go on at me to take him along and I always tell them ive got no concerns and we do rough weighings of him on our scales, he eats like a trooper and as you said chops a la chub :D:D

He's fallen asleep in his swing but with his butterfly toy thing, and when he wriggles it scrunches and stirs him,but i tried moving it and he grips on.....:rotfl:silly boy.....

Get you with all your duties done, am v.impressed.... tomorrow im planning on being goddess, as hubby is home so can watch L.....its not dirty as such.... but its definitely getting there! :A

  • Cafc - I saw my HV precisely once at home the rest of the time at clinic, it wasn't even a HV that did Katie's 2.5 year check it was the Nursery Nurse!

Ring them back and ask what the check is going to achieve considering he is now 5 months old.

  • Morning everyone.
CAFC - was it you asking about baskets for Christmas hampers?
I've been looking for some cheap ones with no joy, but I've just bought some gift boxes this morning that were half price is a cheapy card shop. There are quite big and shiny red, blue and silver, and I think I'm going to use those.

Oh dear, madam's just figured out how to take my glasses off!

CAFC, it seems a totally stupid thing to be chasing you up about (although I wouldn't be surprised) if it is about the 8 week check. We didn't get one of those, does it depend on local authority?

in your red book, there are certain stages where they check development.

    8 weeks, 32 weeks and then 2yrs

8 weeks checked with K, that his sight, hearing, hips, testes were all ok and also checked his belly button had healed ok.

we were sent appointments by the surgery automatically. but this can differ.

we are sent cards for his injections as well.
