I've never heard of a doula here and nor had my OBG so I'm guessing not, and Husband is well aware of what we're doing next time, although the addition of the pre-existing child will complicate matters a bit.

Also, thank you Susan. You are a wonderful shining star :grouphug:

Just out of (strange) curiosity, can someone opt for a c-section, just because they want one? Or, for example, if they want to be sterilised at the same time?
I may be wrong but I think you can only get an elective CS (as opposed to a planned one for some medical complication) if you've had a previous CS.

  • SS you should cross the extra-child bridge when you come to it. When you get that far you can speak to your other expat friends, and formulate a plan. I'm sure someone will help you out.

If nothing else you could come back to the uk a week before your due date and come stay with one of us, and she can stay where she is while you whizz off to the hospital.

Thank You susan, I did wonder if that might be the case...although I suppose if someone had private health care (like the 'celebs') they could have it however they chose to??

ETA - like I say, was just curious...off to bed now, 4.30 is not a good time to be up since!
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.

There's a private maternity hospital in London so I imagine that's what the celebs use.

  • Mel I'm surprised you've stayed up as long as you did. I'm just trying to get swagbucks to let me win a few more points then I'm off to bed too.

Mel, it depends on your consultant. It's at their discretion. For example if a woman had children at home and mentioned her ideas from the begining and it wasn't a whim, then her consultant may be happy to bend the rules.

    Good evening all,
sorry i havent been around to post since i delurked the other day. Thanks for everyones thoughts and stuff on sleeping, I know every baby is different but its nice to know other peoples situations and i agree with you Gill (i would rather feed G for 15 mins than keep getting up with him if i was given the choice!). i am however getting better at sleeping when he does in a morning when we have had a bad night rather than feeling guilty that things need doing in the house(its only taken almost 6 months for me to work that one out!)
On my way to have a read back. Cant work out how to add a picture yet though, it just says please enter url of your image, how do i know what that is?
so whilst i catch up, hugs to all who need them whatever the reason may be, and hugs even if you dont need them xx

Are you trying to add a avatar? i find the easiest way is to choose one thats saved on your computer already, so user cp, then edit avatar and the option 2 and press browse.. hope that helps x

Not caught up so *big hugs* all round.

    This morning's plan:
    Home from work about 2pm
Walk dogs and start typing up reports
    Go to James parents night
    Have tea
    Finish off reports

    Reality:

Got a phone call at lunchtime to say Josh had a suspected broken finger.
Drove to school to collect him then took him to A&E.
Rang school to tell them to tell James just to hang around and I'd get there when I could.
Finally got to parents night about 45 mins late.
    Saw all the teachers.
Came home and had tea late.
Got Charlotte into bed and ironed bed linen and made our bed up.
    Typed up reports.
    Now knackered!

Josh's finger isn't broken, but it's badly bruised and swollen. Got to keep it taped up for a few days and it should be ok.

James parents night went reasonably well. Same problems as in primary school in that he's a bright kid and can answer loads of questions verbally, but he's struggling putting it down on paper. He's also disorganised, forgets things and loses things. Got to work on that at home and see if we can get him sorted out.

Off to bed now as I can hardly keep my eyes open :o
Here I go again on my own....
