Morning ladybird and other lurking early birds xxx

We're ok, Miss M had a wake-up at 3 and disturbed at 5 but went back down very quickly in her own bed and with no boob, so that effectively was a 12 hour sleep :j SORELY needed.

Busy day planned - friend coming for tea at 11, a going-away tea party at 3 and a birthday party at 7ish. Plus I need to bake bread cos we're out and do a couple of other bits. I've just been pottering around clearing away our most obvious messes so the friend doesn't notice.

Glad J's ok Becles and :rotfl: at your bootcamp partner.

Any news of Amber this morning? And tiny baby Lily?

Which reminds me, good luck with your scan EA, come back and tell us if you see a very obvious boy part!

    Morning :)

Just been lurking a bit, someone asked about braxton hicks in first pregnancies. I didn't get any. When my proper contractions started I kept telling my husband that this is just braxton hicks I can't be having the baby yet. Then 4 1/2 hours later I had given birth! I was in denial throughout lol.

On the subject of shoes and sizes, my son still has small feet concidering how tall he is! But they are broad feet, and i can't get normal shoes or trainers to fit him. I have to get the wider shoes from Clarks.

We've been having major terrible 2's for the past week or so, I'm so glad I didn't decide to try for another baby yet as he's wearing me out as it is by himself!

I took him swimming yesterday after missing two weeks because of him being ill, the water though was so cold we came out a bit early as Elliot's lips went blue! Poor little man was freezing, i stood under the hot shower to defrost myself afterwards lol. I've seen a massive improvement though, the first week he wouldn't let go of me, clinging on for dear life. Now he's got his armbands on and i just hold him slightly and he's decided that he can kick his legs now and it's fun :) So i'm really pleased he's stopped being so scared, he tries to climb into the pool himself now!

Hope everyone is ok this morning. xx

  • Hi All

Looking for some ideas on how to get my 2 year old DD to eat some vegetables. She suffers a lot from constipation which Im trying to control by diet rather than keep giving her Lactolose, trouble is even though she is offered vegetables nearly every dinner time, she wont eat them! She will eat fruit but that doesnt seem to be doing much, its the green veg that she needs I think. Any ideas on how to get her to eat it? Or if I could try anything else that she might eat?

At the moment she will eat beans on toast, scrambled egg, omelette (could try putting veg into one of these I guess) and pasta. I do try and get her to eat a varied diet but on the nights that she refuses to eat her dinner I would rather she ate something than nothing because otherwise she wakes up hungry.

She has a bottle of milk before bed, cereals for breakfast (wont eat wheatabix) and a sandwich or something similar at the childminders for lunch, her snacks at the childminders are mainly fruit aswell.

    Think Ive covered everything there!

    TIA

Firstly, is the sandwich on wholemeal bread? Though a lot of children don't like that either!

If she eats pasta, presumably she eats tomato sauce. You could liquidise the veg into that. The same goes for soups. If she eats mashed potatoes, not only does that give fibre, but it can also have other veg mashed into it. Or be used as a thickener and to add fibre.

Cereals - will she eat porridge?

    Just a few ideas.

    Morning!

Hammy, you need to ask us about our night more often, as Finn went without a feed again last night! :j He did wake up briefly at 1:40am, but as it was too early to get up and feed, I just let him cry for 5-10min and he went back to sleep. I still don't expect it to happen regularly, but it is nice when it does.

I've had small feet all my life (why does that sound weird). Someone actually asked me once how I don't topple over with such small feet? What a weird question! They aren't even that tiny - UK 3.5/4, so still in "normal" range.

    Morning

Insomnia strikes again! Went to sleep just after 11pm, then woke up at 12.15am with awful indigestion. Came down and took tablets, but then couldn't get back to sleep and was awake till after 4am. Charlotte woke me up just after 5am because she needed a wee, then I just dozed until the glass recycling lorry started throwing bottles about at 6.50am. So tired, got a headache and I've got a really busy day ahead :(

Hope everyone has a good day and hope Amber is feeling better this morning.

Alot of our main meal at night tends to be veg, if they don't eat it, they will be hungry.

I don't know if it's normal to have a bottle (surely too old for a bottle anyway?) of milk at night, but if she's still hungry from dinner, that will fill her up, so she has no need to eat her whole dinner. Maybe cut back on that a bit.

Has she eaten vegetables in the past?

Two is the age where they start forming likes and dislikes about food. If she's not been used to having veg and you suddenly put a bit of broccoli in front of her, you'll get the same emotions as if I invited you for lunch and gave you a plate of sheep's eyeballs - ewwww I'm not eating that strange food!

If she has had them before and it's just fads, try just putting tiny portions out and first and promising some sort of treat if she clears her plate. Gradually increase the portion size as she starts eating the veg.

Also get her involved in cooking. My daughter likes helping when I'm making dinner and she always eats more when she has helped make it. When I chop veg, she picks the pieces off the chopping board for me and puts them in the steamer basket.
Here I go again on my own....
