AND, sorry to hog the page but D's 1st proper word (apart from Mama and Dada) is car! :j

He adores watching cars and now clearly points to one and says car!

Which leads me on to my very un-MSE post of, I now want to buy him something car-ish to play with. Any ideas on what would be suitable for him. He will be 1 next month. Thanks x

How much are you looking to spend?

I saw this in boots and thought it looked fab! It's on the 3 4 2 and this weekend you get £10 in points when you spend £50. Or if you have boots point you could pay with those :money:

I didn't realise the competition was ending so soon....my Mum and DH hadn't got round to voting yet! :( I hope it wasnt the hamsters!

Keely I would certainly be giving that friend a wide berth! At this age the kids really dont need alot spending on them - believe me I know how much they cost as they get older! This year I have bought LO bit and bobs in the sale throughout the year and probable spent £50 max. The older one is getting driving lessons which I am giving her £250 towards along with other bits for her to open - her stocking fillers work out expensive as she likes things like dior foundation (£28 a time:eek:) so there is plenty of time for all the expense! How rude of her to comment on your husband aswell! I think you're doing a fab job with LO and you should tell her that your 'job' is a SAHM!

Her eldest is 7, the younger one is 2. So i understand the 7 year old wanting more but buying her loads won't make her any happier.
Keely - nobody needs 'friends' like that. If I were you I would just politely ask that she doesn't contact me again and move on.

I've now deleted her, explainedto her why I don't want to friends on there at the moment. She'll probably think i'm just being stupid, but we'll have to leave it at that as I don't want to end up arguing.

Keely, it sounds like a touch of the green eyed monster to me - you're able to budget, you don't need to buy loads of stuff to feel happy and you have a little family that you love who love you too. If I was in your frenemy's position I'd be envious :o Let her go and move on, people who can't be happy for you aren't worth your effort. I have a frenemy too, she has a child a little bit younger than Miss M and wastes no opportunity to remind me that she lost all her baby weight and I haven't and that her partner's a lawyer. She has no idea of our household income but because she has a designer changing bag and I like bargains assumes she's better than I am. I just don't go out of my way to see her, and while she's part of my extended group of friends (beggars can't be choosers when the English-speaking population is limited ;)) anyone who listens to her nasty gossip is also not worth my time. You are a lovely mummy and your job is to look after your lovely boy. If a "friend" can't see that she should be an ex friend.

Em, are you telling us you're with child?

That reminds me, when i started loosing weight she kept asking how i was doing it. I told her i was simply cutting down on the bad foods and doing loads more walking etc. She then kept going on about how she couldn't not eat things, even though i said i still have chocolate but smaller amounts, she just wouldn't listen. I don't want to sound mean, but it's not my problem if she can't diet/loose weight. I've had to work hard to loose 2 1/2 stone, i don't brag about it but I am proud of myself for doing it as i usually fail and put it back on.

I think some people think because i don't own designer bags or clothes, and gadgets-that we must be poor or something. We just spend money else where at the moment. We all have nice clothes, we eat well and don't 'suffer' (as my friend said her kids suffered last xmas as she didn't buy them lots of things). Maybe I just don't think certain things are as important as she does.

Thank you everyone for the kind replies and support, sometimes i wonder if it IS me and i'm the one who's lost touch with reality!

Actually what narked me more was all the things he had been telling her about me, making out im crazy and unbalanced, lazy etc etc, making fun of my eating disorder, OMG JUST DONT BE SICK ROFL LOL LOL.
Grrr  We need an extra mad smiley to express my outrage. I know it's probably ignorance and lack of understanding on his part but it really annoys me when people make fun of that kind of thing and act like it's as simple as just deciding not to do it. If someone suffers a bereavement nobody would tell them to just decide not to be sad because everybody knows it is not that simple so I don't see why the same doesn't apply to this kind of thing.
but also got chronic diarrhea in the meantime, I don't deal with stress very well.
I have a RL friend who is like that - she was ill the night before my wedding because she was so nervous about being bridesmaid. We ended up with me helping her to get ready in time. :rotfl:

:o I don't have a budget. I haven't even discussed it with DH. :o I just think D would love something car-ish right NOW. I actually have an NCT sale to go to tomorrow so I will have a good look around there..... Thanks for the link - I am not quite sure if it is car-ish enough :rotfl: Fussy? Moi? :rotfl:

The hamsters didn't win. A boy holding a guitar won. He was plainly not as cute as D so I think he got the sympathy votes :D (I am joking btw)

It lasted for two months but doesn't seem to have had any lasting effects. (Aside from the occasional fake cough to go with the "I can't do [whatever she's just been told to do] because I've got a cough.")

Keely - Your friend sounds nasty :( But it will be jealousy, and noway she can afford all those things on benefits? It won't be her money, be on credit cards or something....

She apparently had £1000 for her eldest daughter, owed to her in benefits because she has special needs. What bugged me was she brought herself AND her sister a designer bag each first with the money. I don't agree with that as it wasn't meant for her, but for her daughter. The she bragged about the holiday, disney on ice, and then all the xmas presents....but i doubt she's got all that with one grand.

I don't like being made out i'm mean!! thanks again for the replies, i was wondering if someone would stick up for her or not. I know she's a single mom and it's not easy but still.

Well I think thats out of order, if she got backdated DLA or something, then sure treat the kids but I don't think designer handbags is a priority! Lol Idris' mum bought me some fancy bag last year, real leather etc, I think it looks like a granny bag and use it to hold all my belts :rotfl: nowt wrong with a handbag from New look (on sale....) :p

Even if I had £3000 pounds I woudn't spent more than £15 max on a handbag, Im just tight tho', I'd go to disneyland though :D

Honestly don't worry about what she said, you know and have made your own decisions (which btw, I think are 100 times better than hers) toddlers don't need spoiled at xmas, they don't know, most of them can't even open the wrapping paper :p
