Aless and CAFC, there's a Money Making thread on the special occasions board where they're getting together to make Christmas and birthdays money-neutral. If you're crafty you could set up a Folksy store or make throughout the year and go to a craft fair at the end to sell things, or ebay everything that isn't nailed down etc :)

I might go and look at that thread myself, I have an attic full of stuff that needs ebaying. We don't really buy birthday gifts for anyone outside our house...

Hopefully I will get some other ideas froom on there.

SS, that's cool thanks. I think my creativity is maxed-out on the hampers, that's about all I can manage! eBay is good and all, but implies that you actually have things to sell...over the years, I've pretty much exhausted the majority of any 'extra' stuff we may have. I was only selling baby clothes in the past because we didn't have the storage space (which we do now).

I do cash neutral christmasses too, using the cashback from my capital one card and monies from grocery budget (hampers) or clever use of vouchers to do the rest. (am saying this cos I have only ever sold one thing on ebay, so ebaying isn't essential to make it work, IYSWIM?)

Keep an eye on the Up Your Income forum and join a few survey sites. It's hard to say which are better than others as they offer surveys based on your demographics which are different for everyone.

Make sure they pay in vouchers or points that can be exchanged for vouchers or cash. I save mine up and it covers the costs of birthday and Christmas presents.

The surveys are easy to do and occasionally you get freebies to test too.

Popping down the shops this morning and getting stuff for a buffet tea and some fizzy wine. Stopping in this evening and putting jarmies on. Charlotte will probably go to bed at normal time, but the boys will stay up and we'll watch films or play Just Dance 2 or something. We always put Big Ben and the London fireworks on at midnight and will probably go to bed shortly afterwards.

Hope everyone has a good New Years Eve and best wishes for 2011. Hope you achieve everything you want to achieve.

I meant to ask how your Ikea vouchers panned out this year?

Feeling dreadful this morning, I'd go back to bed but my stomach's so off there's no point.

Hope you feel better SS - do you think it was just food or something more sinister?

weezl, nice to see you! You've been hiding from us all, or just busy? Haven't seen you online in a while :).

I do pretty well on vouchers and stuff (see sig, only started in September), but my problem with those is I wanna buy stuff for meeeeeeeee, not poxy Christmas pressies :p:p. I've just started ShopandScan too, so I hope that total will continue to rise frequently :D.

I never finished packing up my other Christmas hampers, but I have to do that today since we're going to the IL's early tomorrow morn. Totally not feeling it, so maybe I need a Christmas relapse with some music and stuff to get into the mood.

It went pretty well thanks to your help :)

I also used the CC cashback for thorntons and amazon, and only my Dad's digital frame took us above 'cash neutral'. So I'm quite pleased really since I didn't think I'd be able to have the time to be as frugal this year.

Hope you feel less grim soon :(

Hope you feel better soon SS xx

Meant to ask, does any one know the etiquette on sending Christmas cards to adult children who no longer live at their parents address?

I moved out of my parents home in 1994, and I still get Christmas cards from relatives sent to my parents address, tucked inside my parents card.

It's just one of those stupid things that irritates me as it kind of says they are thinking of me at Christmas, but not enough to warrant spending 32p on a stamp!

Once a child has moved out of a parents house, I've always sent their card to their new address.

Just wondered what the official etiquette rules say.

I am thanks, so much better. Need to see the nurse today to check my dressing and hopefully that'll be the last appointment I need. Where it was all coming out at the top the stitches were in quite deep and were really painful when the nurse took them out but I feel much better now they are gone and its not oozing as much now either so fingers crossed its healing.

I put the baby in his moses basket upstairs whilst I sorted out the laundry this morning and now he has fallen asleep up there, I daren't move him, just need to really listen out for when he wakes.

The HV came yesterday and he now weighs 10lb12 and is gaining nicely. He has started to sleep 5-6 hours at night too, 3 nights in a row now which is such a nice change from 3 hourly feeds. I struggle to get back to sleep after a good 5 hours sleep now grr.

I have another aim - sell all my maternity clothes, they did really well on ebay after I had DS so fingers crossed that will be a nice amount. I got a few bits for really cheap from a Next clearance store and they are really nice tops, jeans etc so should do ok.

Have a good New Years Eve everyone who is staying up for it, I'm hoping for an early night how sad lol
