They may have different rules for single parents. Although I thought the whole point of TCs was to make sure it was more worthwhile working then being "on benefits" and I think you can get benefits if you work under 16 hours per week (or at least I still got my contribution based JSA) so it messes that up a bit. All this social control through benefits and taxation gets very complicated.Buttonmoons wrote: »They have made it so couples have to be working 24hrs to claim WTC, joint hours whatever, does that apply to single parents? Cause Im struggling to find a job I can do with Keira right now, if I have to work 24 hours im going to be so screwed.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

I know I could sit on benefits Susan, but I really don't want too, as I will be better off working 16 hours, they are lobbing everyone onto JSA as soon as their youngest child turns 5 aswell so, might aswell get there first!

And I was told when I went for a lone parent interview back in the day that if you're 5 minutes late to sign on they don't let you and you get no money  That was a fair while ago though, maybe they have grown a conscience since then

If they mess up your money (often) what are you supposed to do if you are living hand to mouth? (likely if you are on t'dole)
I remember when we were on joint JSA, we got a whopping £170 a fortnight, that's less than if you were singly claiming, so what, do you eat less if you are single
