Actually it's the Emachines one I was interested in as it has the Pine trail processor, albeit with a 3-cell battery (do you know what it's running time is, Donnie?) The only other thing putting me off is that it has only 2 USB ports (I'll be using a broadband dongle), although it does have it's own mic. It also has n (((wi-fi))) - by far the cheapest machine I have seen with this.
I am already aware of the problems that maybe 1% of unlucky Argos outlet customers experience. I think I may have seen Donnie (or perhaps it was someone else) glossing over this by pointing to the good service and product that the 99% get. I do not approve of that approach, although at this price, I may well be tempted to take the gamble - admittedly, the odds are pretty good!

I don't gloss over anything. I recommend buying from them because I have done so many times before.
The fact that you have all of the usual warranties is also my minimum requirement for a recommendation.
If the machine is not in perfect condition, send it back for a refund.

I think that you know that things can go wrong in any business. People will order a Netbook and send it back because it has no optical drive. Call Argos customer service and feel upset when they are told they are not connected to the Clearance Bargains website.
In my case, I have had an overall positive experience and received good value for money.
The is a website created to help people save money, not to wrap them up in cotton wool.
    Things do go wrong.

There are too many posts across the 'net from people stating that this is not being implemented, although it is not at all clear what proportion of the "1%" has been having problems.

This is absolute nonsense. Show me one of these posts that pertains to the 7 day return policy not being honoured.

as I suggested one without Win 7 or XP will be cheaper.

Thanks DCM. I for one would be really interested in a link to one with fairly similar specs to these that are posted (not a returned faulty though).
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

and ps both of you stop your girl whining, and donnie it is bad forum etiquette to remove posts on a whim

Cool your heels young girl. I removed my post before there was any reply from Aiadi.

Clearly she was composing her post whilst I was removing my post.

Nothing much wrong with ACER (my desktop is an ACER and I have had it for 2 years without a hitch) as long as it can be easily returned if faulty as the reliability is well know to be a bit hit an miss. Still a lot of people are not fond of ACER or their customer service (as is the case with most manufacturers of cheaper PC unfortunately) but looking at various reviews it still appears that Dell fares a bit better in the ranking.

Repairs will not be forwarded to ACER but the inhouse repairer; D&J Henry.

Why, are you thinking of buying one?

It's got to do with him needing to be reassured of the reliability of the retailer from whom he may purchase. What are you thinking?

Nope sorry I don't, I cannot use google, :p , but donnie will know of where there is one (sorry to drop you in this Donnie, but I did try to goog earlier but my cat gets in the way[your last post said why do you want one ...or such like]). I have a sammy N140 which cost me 289 squid last November, and that with 7 starter, now it has that and Ubuntu NRM .... Ubuntu 10.10 is now out and has new name something like unity but don't quote me. If you can get a cheep (aka cheap) one then with XP it's ok and installed your own Ubuntu. But as I said Netbooks with Microsoft O/S cost more , but older(spec) Netbooks are available with linux , but linux /netbooks seem to have gone out of fashion.
