As another poster suggested, may be go off to google (to find your answer) and then straight to bed sweetheart.

Actually, I don't need the answer. Just thought it would be helpful to the OP for you to tell them why you think it's good value for money.
On first glance, the specs can be matched by another machine for just over £150.
So I thought perhaps it redeemed itself with a long battery life. So I asked you.
Instead of replying with the answer. You decided to go into a bit of a rant, into which you still continue.

So sadly the usefulness of this post has been sadly diminished.

Perhaps you were wrong to assume that my question was argumentative. ;)

My question was simply to ascertain the USP of your suggestion.

But 'cut & paste' and a bad attitude seems to be your limit.

So your advice to the OP or anyone else who wants to know the details of the machine of which you recommend is to 'Google it'. Nice. :)

Nine hours ;) and still no reply. What a numbskull.
  • Not withstanding the afore mentioned, Since the OP (hinchy) wants a netbook and wants to run Linux why hinchy do you not ask for recommendation for a Netbook with Linux/No-Os whatsoever. The ones which come with MSoft will include a premium for that. I have a Sammy N140 which at times is very useful for Home use ie using the MS home network, but when in the pub and checking email and footy scores/Betfair I use Ubuntu for qucik boot, and quick shutdown. I suppose I would suggest you look for Linux pre configured books, unless you need some Msoft stuff too.

Of course it would have been better if the thread had stuck to technical discussion, but where teenage hormones are on the loose...

Anyway, the similarly specified ACER D260A is available in a variety of colours from ARGOS Returns for £176.48 The machine is supposed to be rated for eight hours battery life, but there is no information on the Argos website to that effect.

Many manufactures don't quote battery life on certain models, but here we have one of Intel's superbly power-efficient Pine Trail processors hooked to a 6-cell power pack. As the 3-cell batteries give at least 3½ hours on a 10" screen (4 hours is easily attainable) with this processor, then I'd have thought this machine might give around 7½ hours.
I am interested in purchasing something very similar if the price is as low as you quote, and would consider refurbished as I know most of these are as good as new. Could you divulge the spec on your particular proposition, please?

EDIT: I took so long composing and editing this that I see you have done it, although I was expecting something "just over £150"........

The machine for £150 has a poorer battery life as it only has a 3 cell battery. Which is the reason on first glance that I asked Aiadi about battery life, because I had the £150 machine in mind as it had similar specs..
I thought he/she would have the answer at hand. Clearly not. So I deleted my question.

The cheaper machine is the eMachines 350 for £153.98.

Not a great fan of ACER's eMachines, but YMMV.
