    I have only had one pay packet since the tax code change and that was the difference, no other amendments or deductions that I could see, may be they are just catching up for this year or not will see what happens next pay packet..........

    That will be right. You're 66% of the way through the tax year when the extra allowance was applied. So my £12 (x 66% = £8) won't be far off the mark.

    No - that's excessive. More likely £100 in relief (= £100 x 20% = £20 less tax per annum). But it's been backdated and they've given all the relief in the one year.
    If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
  • The Royal College or Nursing provides a form where you can specify additional claims, like RCN subscriptions, fees to the NMC and subscriptions to the Nursing Standard.

    I can't post links for some reason, but if you Google "rcn tax relief", it's number 2 in the results.

    As long as your shirts have an employer logo they are doing enough to be classed as a uniform. There doesn't have to be an agreement with your employer as there is an established rate of £60 per year for those who do not have a rate agreed either nationally or locally.

    It's just bad luck that your letter was answered by someone who doesn't know what they were talking about. If you send an identical letter you are likely to get a different response.

    Completely untrue! Royal Mail have locally agreed rates for their employees, I believe this is £120 per year. Some employees are already receiving these allowances and some aren't. Just because a the person you work next to wasn't entitled to a rebate it doesn't necessarily follow that you aren't.

    Wouldn't qualify as it would otherwise be ordinary clothes. A detatchable badge doesn't make ordinary clothes a uniform, it would need permanent company logos/branding.

    I work for Ladbrokes Plc (Gambling shops) as a Deputy Manager. We do wear shirts with logo on it and we are responsible for washing them. In what category do i fall to claim the money. How much money i should mention on my letter?
