    Hi all :)

Just saw this which might be useful for my other half :) She studies full time for University at the moment, however has had the following jobs:

P/T Boots Sales Assistant - 12 months (still employed)
    F/T Nursing Home Hostess - 9 months (2008/09)
    P/T Holland & Barrett Sales Assistant - 7 months (2007)

What would the best way to claim these back? Would she list all correspondence to her current tax office, or would she have to some how find all the previous tax offices and send individual letters?

Also, as far as I am aware is it £60 for both the Boots and H&B jobs, however does she receive £100 or £60 for the nursing home job? (Obviously all of these will be calculated pro rata).

    Thank you all :)
  • Do I need original copies of my P60's?
I have 2 from the previous 6 years and my head office said I can request copies of the other 4. Would that be ok?

You don't need a P60 at all. You just write quoting your PAYE reference (from P2 [Coding Notice] or similar)

Can an Asda employee claim this back?
One that has not paid tax for 2 years due to the low wages?

A link to the HMRC info would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

Post #1 on page 1 of this thread?

Applicability depends on whether you wear / launder a 'uniform'. But if you don't pay tax ..... an increase in your Code isn't going to be of much benefit? The allowance may be retrospective if you paid tax and had the same circumstances over 2 years ago.

I would guess not as it's private sector....then again is it a h&s issue? Do you work with meat, fish, baked good etc? I would expect that would constitute an allowance more.

    I work for HMRC :

    1) You work wear must have a logo on it.

    2) You do not receive a cheque the money is given by altering your tax code

    3) HMRC write to your company and ask them if they are part of the scheme if they are not on the registered list of companies.
  • Hi there, can I reclaim for my husband's uniform - he is self employed?

    Thanks!!
  • Hi.

I submitted a claim to the tax office as I have to wear a uniform to work. I work in IT in the education sector and am provided polo shirts which I have to wash and iron.

I sent off my claim based on a template from this site and the reply back reads:
"I have reviewed your claim for Flat Rate Job Expenses. In order to receive this benefit there has to be an agreement between your employer and HMRC. No such agreement is in place. Therefore no Flat Rate Job Expense is due."

Is there anything I can do now? Anyone had a similar response?
