EDIT : Tax allowance now £60 to £140 per year from April 2008
See list of what you can claim here > it is not limited to those listed but that is a guide and customs will choose the most suitable catogory based on your job
Wash your uniform at home ?
Then write to your tax office and tell them, i got a extra tax allowance and it is backdated 6 years which its better than nothing and better in your pocket
It only costs the price of a stamp so worth a try !
All you need to do is fill in the blanks and send it to your work's tax office.(thanks to max2002ad)

RE: Expenses Allowance
I have been employed at Company Name, Location since (Date of Starting at Employment). I am obliged to launder the uniform, which is supplied to me by the company. I therefore wish to claim an expenses allowance of £xx for each year since the above date.

Hi, Great post guys. Really please to see this is still going.
Might be a silly question, my girlfriend works as a zoo keeper, what if any best describes her job role?
I would guess Agriculture, but should she put this or play it safe and say its not on the list?
Is the letter posted at the begining still current?

hi all thanks for opening the thread about being able to claim back on washing our own clothes:
my position is i work in HMF MPGS so i'm a shift worker in the regular Army... strange as it may seem yes they do that these days..now i live in my own private house out of camp, and iam aware of a laundry system which nobody can realistically use military wise as it is only operated on a wednesday when we do washing daily...
can anyone tell me if we have a genuine case to claim back on costing here
