The guide says that you have to have purchased your uniform yourself. My son was GIVEN his by the company but still has to wear, wash and mend it. Would he still be eligible to apply?
1. the company does not provide clothing, I have to buy it myself, can I get the purchase costs back? answer: yes
2. I have a uniform that meets all the requirements described in the guide. The company does not provide laundry facilities so I have to wash it myself, can I claim for the washing costs. Answer: yes
do please understand that "yes" means your claim is for tax relief not the actual costs of washing. You get back the tax you paid on the cost incurred in washing £60 x 20% = £12, you do not get back the full £600 -
Hi, I haven't had a chance to look through the entire thread so these questions might have been answered already but...
1) Where it says flat rate expenses, do I put the entire value off the list in there? Eg for Ambulance crew £140
and
2) Can I claim for when I was working as bank staff (ie casual worker)?
Thank you in advanceSPC Newbie, Number 131- £7.06 saved so far

Many thanks to the forum/site, OH and daughter have received their rebate for clothes, shoes, tools expenses for least 3 years and between them have a few hundred pounds that they never would have had ! I could have sworn hubby was already claiming for this in all the years he's been working but it just goes to show (check). many thanks everyone:j0

I was surprised I was able to sort the uniform allowance over the phone. 4 years back dated applied to this year's tax allowance. Better in my pocket than theirs.SallyD0

That claim being one of the more blatant ones which they refuse to remove, despite being shown the legal test cases and HMRC rules.
If I was not working I would not wear shirt/trousers/shoes

I have just received a letter from Uniform Tax Credits, as soon as I saw that if I get anything back they take£12.50 processing charge and a further 26% including VAT where applicable, I thought `No win no fee No Way!`. So I came on here to have a look at how I could claim directly through HMRC, and I will let you know the outcome, if any. Many thanks for all the information on here.0

Hello everyone. Im about to fill the P87 in to submit online but just need help with a couple of points. Do i submit a P87 for each year im wishing to claim, it dosent give me the option to click all? If so do i wait until they have accepted the first claim? Do i start with the latest tax year or first being 2012?
Thanks in advance0 -
P87 has always been year specific so you'd need to complete one for each year.
No idea why you'd only want to submit one year and then wait, if your claim is genuine why wouldn't you submit them all at the same time?
You cannot make a claim for "2012" the claims relate to tax years and the earliest year you can claim now is year to 05 April 2013.0
