Can anyone tell me what this year's standard tax code including uniform allowance should be? Is it 1066L?0

I am a student and have been working part time therefore haven't paid tax on my wage. Could I still claim the cost of uniform maintenance if i haven't paid tax?
Also could you claim if you did work experience? I did work experience at a independent pharmacy for 2 year.0 -
I was claiming uniform tax relief for a number of years, until last year.
In March 14 I got a letter from HMRC saying my tax code was going from 1008L to 1000L (in effect taking £80 off me) HMRC said that the MOD were now using a flat rate rebate instead, however my pay hasn't increased under this system.
How does this new system work? My tax code has got lower, I pay more income tax than in the past, and my salary hasn't gone up to compensate.
Any ideas or advice before I write to HMRC?0 -
HMRC will have done this based on the MOD telling them they were switching to a flat rate scheme, so you may want to speak to your payroll department first.
Also, the code change isn't taking £80 off you, it's reducing your tax free allowance by £80. if you pay tax at the basic rate, the cash cost is 20% of that, or £16 for the year (£1.33 per month). if you're higher rate, the cost is an eye-watering £2.66 per month.0 -
How long should the process take. I sent four P87 forms on the behalf of my wife in Mid march and have had no response at all from HMRC. Wish I had sent the forms recorded delivery now!0

Hi I'm a mechanic and on the hmrc website says I can claim for 120. Do I now fill out a p87 form and write £120 on the form for uniform cleaning?0

Hi
I see on this site I can claim tax back on work clothing by filling out a p87 form, this is where I need a little guidance.
I am an Openreach engineer involved in cabling and jointing fibre cables in the outside network, I cant see this profession on the form (I cant link to it as new user) so I guess I have to claim the tax back the standard £60 rate is that correct.
2nd for this do I fill out the part of the form called flat rate expenses which is the 3rd section and if so in the box named "Expenses claimed" do I put in there 60 or £12 (20% of 60)
If anyone can offer any advice I would be very grateful.
Thanks

Late posting to the forum but used the guide and got a £300 quid rebate for uniform washing and professional subs thanks to MSE a couple of years ago. :beer:0

I have just been refused because I do not belong to any of the groups, yet I work for the CPS and have to wear dark clothes to court. I always buy some black tops, trousers and you also have to cover your arms in court. I wouldn't wear any of these dark clothes for anything else, as I bought them for court. My employer refuses to give us an allowance and I am one of the lower paid staff. Anyone else have to buy clothes for court?0
