Well done everyone who has been successful but please can anyone help me........I have had 2 letters from HMRC, one was a change in tax code to incorporate the tax relief and the other one is asking for my husbands completed form P11D??? He has been told by his employer that his employer's accountants completes the P11D form and that his accountants also said that he can't claim because he didn't purchase the uniform! But from reading all of your success stories thats rubbish. Why does my husband have to supply the form, he can't anyway as the accountants won't let him have a copy. Can anyone put me straight on what they are talking about and CAN he claim?

I am new to this so not quite sure what I am doing, just desperate for some advice, thank you.

Seems like you, and a few others on this page alone have recently had the same problem of getting a change in tax code, but no backdated payment.

I'm just about to try and claim. Anyone know why so many people aren't getting the backdated payment for last 4 years?

I'm a Highways Agency Traffic Officer and after a few people doing the same role claimed back the allowance I sent of the letter. Got a response back today saying that I already receive tax relief for laundry.

Just wondered would I already receive it if I've never claimed it and if so how comes I automatically got it and others doing the same thing didnt?

I wrote to the Sainsbury's tax office about this and just got a quick reply back of 'youre already receiving it'. Is this right?

I have only just heard about this and was wondering how much I could claim back, I'm a carpenter/joiner and have worked for the same company for 21yrs and have washed my work gear all this time.

Any help would be much appreciated on how to claim back expenses.

It is not just tools BUT it is wholly necessary for you to do your job.

  • I had 2 jobs for a short period, and was wondering how I claim uniform allowance for both?
    • I was a cleaner from before 2008 until March 2010.
    • Between these dates, I also started working as a Nurse in November 2009
How do I claim for both jobs in a letter?

Also, how does it work if you are only claiming for part of a tax year?
