the vouchers are for one item only-my blazer. All other items (shirts/trousers/jackets) are not eligible for the vouchers and therefore have to be washed at home.
Same for me. Will send the letter and have a go though, the worst they can say is no, and it'll only cost a stamp!0 -
Hi
I saw this via the newsletter and I hope someone can answer the following for me, as I have a load of colleagues that want to know if we can claim.
I work for McDonalds and the uniform is provided, Trousers, Shirts and Ties am I able to claim as the logo does appear on all 3 items, I have around 7 uniforms as well. I go through around 4 pairs of shoes each year due to grease and as am on my feet all day so can I claim that back too?. I've worked there for 14 years, at differant restaurants and like I said want to know how to go about getting some money back. I emailed my payroll dept and they told me I should just contact the Tax office.
Do you think I can claim for numberous pens over the years too am sure to have bought atleast 500 as I need them plus other people pinch them and all at MY own cost??
McDonalds does have a washing machine but thats for greasy cloths and other types, it provides an iron plus board but no dryer or factility to dry clothes and it's up to the employees to ensure that what they wear is cleaned prior to working."I AM THE GATEKEEPER OF MY OWN DESTINY" Nacho Libre

How about if you're in the Army? Does anyone know if I could claim tax back for having to wash my stinking combats and working dress?! I don't live in barracks or married quarters (only co-habiting!) so have no access to laundry facilities, and I really resent having to use electricity for my job!0

If there are facilities available to wash your clothes at work but you still choose to wash them at home then can you still claim the tax allowance? Eg My husband is in the Navy but lives at home so does his washing at home (unless he's on deployment)0

Folks my advice is if you are not sure just write a letter to the tax office and they will let you know if you are entitled.0
