The reduction in points on fuel doesn't make much difference to me as Tesco has been consistently more expensive for fuel near me for ages now. (If you go to Horwich, Asda has sometimes been 2p or 3p a litre cheaper!)

I was expecting to use vouchers for days out this September as we had relatives staying, but we used other offers (eg Alton Towers 241 with cheese) instead as they were better value. I did a lot of advance Christmas shopping with the recent double up vouchers and thought it was a real bargain, especially when I remembered that the vouchers were free.

I take the point about Tesco often being more expensive, but I shop carefully. I really miss being able to use the MOCs but, for example, yesterday I shopped at lunchtime and they happened to be reducing a lot of stuff by a half. I ended up with a trolley-full (most of which went into the freezer) and was able to use the Amex/Morrisons £10 off wys £60 voucher, so was very happy with my shop.

I tend to use the vouchers for the large Thornton's box (1030g). It's a bargain for a tenner, a fantastic luxury for us and a brilliant present for a special occasion. I shall be getting a few of these before 6 December!

50% better off minus till spits with extra points by the fistful, extra points vouchers from clubs, less points from petrol, for people looking at holidays a reduction in maximum allowed.
Yeah, look at the bigger picture before name calling.
  • Thanks to the OP for alerting me to this.

I had £25 worth of vouchers that I was saving for next year. Instead I've used them today - £15 for days out, which should cover 2 days out at half term for the five of us and £10 exchanged for a restaurant meal for me and DH - we could do with a night out the year we've had.

    Thanks again x

Are double points on all grocery shopping or only on selected items?

Goldsmiths vouchers need'nt involve more spend, so long as you get the minimum £200 spend in vouchers.

A couple of years ago I bought a £2000 Omega watch, paying just £150 cash. Then my wife got a £2000 Ebel, but had to put about £600 towards that one.

This was my aim but I never managed to get enough points in two rolling years. I have however got (free) from Goldmiths 2 Cartier pens approx £225 each, Dupont cufflinks £90, a GC watch £400 and an Emporio Armani watch £125. Three of these were presents and went down a storm!

So far as I know Clubcard Plus now attracts the "standard" 2 points per £1 spend, PLUS the additional point that it always has. So £1 spend = 3 cc points.

This is a money saving forum, naturally 99% of people are a little annoyed about the changes because we like to save (strangely enough). Why are the other 1%who are banging on saying its no big deal actually on here, cos to the rest of us, it is a big deal.

lol why wouldnt we be here.. as i said in my post i have just used vouchers i printed off from here and SAVED on my shopping.. Tesco prices are competitve anyway i find, so with the vouchers im getting cheap shopping.. then i get the clubcard rewards on top..

to me there would be no advantage me not using tesco again because of this new change as i would

    a) need to travel further to another store
    b) not be able to use vouchers i can obtain
    c) not get any rewards at all (other than sainsburies with there pathetic nectar system)
d)not have the other departments like clothes/electrical etc in the likes of lidl (well maybe some limited items)
    e) not have the other stores avaiable at the same location.. e.g wilkinsons/poundland etc...

yes it would be nice to have more but its not like its stopped all together.. im not going to cry about it..

it's annoying but if you don't like it don't collect points and shop elsewhere...

  • I think I must be in the minority who are just grateful for any reward that I get for doing my shopping! At the end of the day, there are plenty of supermarkets to go to, no-body is forced to go to Tesco, I use Tesco and Sainsburys not because of the rewards but because I don't live close enough to Asda or Morrisons who are imo cheaper-whatever I get back is a bonus to me and I'm happy with whatever I can get back (and also happy that on daily top up shops the money goes into my local shopkeepers pocket that helps him survive against supermarkets and I don't get a penny back from shopping for him, just the satisfaction that if I along others use him he won't be another shop with a For Sale sign above it next year)

possibly worth a call to customer services to see if points for ink could be added to the october mailing. If enough people are in this situation worth a try?.
