By the way, are Tescos and Tesco's recognised trading names for Tesco? Or perhaps I've been misreading those big red and blue signs on the stores.

Have you noticed we're also getting Lidls, and Nettos now, too? Must go back to the days of the corner shop, when it genuinely would have been something like Smith's or Jones' grocers.

For all those interested in Butlins. I would point out that when I last enquired about doing this, Butlins absolutely withdrew every other discount normally offered were I to pay with Tesco clubcard vouchers. So do the math carefully to see that it's worth burning through your vouchers at Butlins. Obviously, if there's no other clubcard offer that tickles your fancy, then go ahead.

Much the same with all the holiday/hotel type offers - which is why the vouchers aren't usually worth anything like 3x value, let alone 4x.

Well my mum and I had both been saving up for a meal out/get together with me & my hubbie to be and both sets of parent's before our wedding next year, and I'm almost glad they're making these changes as after this quarter neither of us will particularly be trying to collect any points in future, AND I am fed up of placing delivery orders having carefully checked offer dates, for my delivery same or next day to have multiple items missing or hiked up in price by 30%. (on one order literally a third of my items were missing - why do I bother paying for delivery when they don't deliver).

From now on in I will stick to going to my local supermarkets and buying only exactly what I need from tesco.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

I agree with you completely. I posted earlier in the thread just how a holiday with Cosmos would have cost me the same as Thomas Cook, PLUS £200 (x4) in clubcard vouchers.

However, i am going to book Butlins next year as an extra, simply because i have the vouchers specifically for that, but no way would i pay £1850 for a week for 4 in cash there when i could have a fortnights half board in Tukey for the same.

We always get the Merlin Annual Passes. As there are 4 of us, we just couldnt afford to buy them. We are going to swap our Clubcard vouchers before December and just use them within 6 months, when our existing passes run out.
  • Bill the best way to ensure that you get smaller donominations is to order, different amounts from restaurants, days out, hotels. Remember that any products with a code starting with S means that the tokens will be interchangeable between rewards. If you order all of one code you may receive high value tokens rather than smaller value tokens.

I've got around £200 (£800 reward) in Clubcard points which I'll now be redeeming before December 6th. Best Western Hotels look to be the best value and have fewer restrictions than some other hotel groups - has anyone used Reward Tokens with them? The Clubcard site also says ' Did you know? - Hotel tokens can be used for any hotel company in rewards, or for any rewards that aren’t “buy in full”. ' Does this mean they can be used in restaurants and for days out etc.? If £800 in Reward Tokens were ordered does anyone have any idea as to what denominations they might come in, so that they could be used for various things.

    Thanks, Bill.

Anyone have an idea of just when Tesco will be doing this month's mail-out??

Unluckily for us, we're off to Tenerife for a fortnight on November 21st, but have £178sworth of points sitting here ready for x4 conversion -- with a further £43 to come in the November statement.

However, if Tesco mail-outs are more likely to be nearer the end of the month than the beginning, then there's no point in us hanging on because we'll be too late for the December deadline.

    On which basis, £178 x 4 spent now = £712 value is better than £178 + £43 x 3 = £663.

Should we hang on for a few more days or not? (We're looking to use the points towards the cost of a 2011 holiday.)

Am in the same position, albeit Lanzarote (£187.50 tokens = £750 off the cost, balance of around £300, with £70 vouchers to come).

I called Tesco to see what could be done about speeding it up, and naturally a comatose customer services person (just about) replied that nothing could be done. I guess all we can do is wait and hope, make a decision in late November.

Sorry - just noticed your departure date. Maybe you should just go ahead, as the other potential problem is that having made the booking, how long will the holiday provider will wait before charging the balance to the credit card? - at the moment, I am expecting the additional £70 vouchers now due to give me £280 off the cost; I don't want to be paying the £280 in cash simply because the vouchers are delayed in the post. Remember Tesco have to send the vouchers, we have to exchange the vouchers for tokens with Tesco, then send the tokens to the holiday company - about a ten day turnaround after initial receipt of the vouchers, based on past experience.

Still, it will be worth it when you're on your free all-inclusive, assuming it is free...

Tesco seem to have a new page on clubcard website, if you log in using your cc number, name, address, etc, etc you can then access 'my clubcard' on here it gives a list of all your voucher numbers still to be used, it isn't displaying my nov ones yet, just says processing but it may be worth checking every few days as they might appear here before they arrive in the post and as you will be ordering online anyway all the codes to use should be there.
Worth a try, also with double up supposed to be starting on monday i would assume they should start arriving by then. Hope you get them in time and enjoy your hols.

Thanks imatsu and bevvy, the help's appreciated. Yup, I used the new-style ClubCard log in recently and had the same experience, i.e., it shows my points history but says those for the November statement are still being processed. (The £43 figure I mentioned in my earlier post is based on the average quarterly points total received.)

I've just re-checked my Clubcard account online and it still says the points are being processed, so that may well indicate that the mail-out is going to occur later rather than sooner.

We've decided it's going to be best not to wait but cash in the existing points at x4 now, especially as not only are the points effectively devalued from December, the cash-equivalent Deals allowance where holidays with either Cosmos or Virgin are concerned are also being reduced.

Virgin doesn't appeal and now thanks to info from another MSEr on another thread we've learnt that Cosmos holidays are a rip-off compared to Archers (i.e., same company runs both brands and holidays / holiday brochures are identical.) However, at the current x4 exchange rate and £400 per person allowance, a Cosmos deal for 2011 is still palatable (though without ClubCard vouchers to offset the cost, any Cosmos brochured holiday is, literally, a waste of money.)

We're going to re-read the Tesco / Cosmos vouchers T&Cs as the main thing now is to get the existing points changed at the x4 rate into a Cosmos voucher (or whatever) and then book the holiday in December. The vouchers are valid for six months and there's no requirement to actually take the holiday in that period, merely book it. (Well, I *think* that's how it works. . .)
