Any SAHMs have "help"?

Of course, both retired and every time we ask for help there is some excuse not to...i would class this as selfish! You don't know my situation so why judge on a small post?
I'll help anyone in need and have done for both sets of parents...i know you don't give to receive but i also do not want to be taken for a ride.
Maybe they don't like doing it?
I have to say that I would not expect any help... they also have their own life?
If you offer and expect help back on your own terms and it is not forthcoming don't do it again.0 -
I will be going back to work part time in February (every day but shorter hours) and have already said to husband that we will be getting a cleaner. If I am working, doing the school runs, making all meals, doing everyones laundry and tidying up daily, at the very least it would be nice to spend a bit of downtime actually just 'being' and enjoying the family I work so hard for. I anticipate it only being to vacuum properly, mop floors and clean bathrooms, but frankly that would take a load off! I am currently a SAHM and haven't had the energy to tackle any of those jobs properly since I went off in April! If I get a spare hour, I recharge my batteries, cos I never know when baby is going to kick off and need feeding/cuddling/bouncing for hours. If I had the money I would have someone in daily.Debt free as of July 2010 :j

To the above posters who have nothing better to do than pick at my posts rather than answer the thread....again making assumptions on a pathetically small titbit of information i have provided.
I would have thought helping with their grandchild was one of importance...i can clean my own home, i needed help with the grandchild as i have had ill health for the last 8 years and also managed to work albeit part time, a little help is not to much too ask, i don't think.0 -
Surely it's not a case of "need" - if you can afford a cleaner then why wouldn't you get one?0

Hmm I have been reading this thread with interest. I have recently become a SAHM and have 3 children (16 months and 4.5 years). I don't have a cleaner but if we were loaded and maybe had a much bigger house ~I could certainly see the attraction!
For me, I dust downstairs on a Monday, hoover upstairs on a Tuesday etc etc and somehow the house is in ok condition. Wouldn't say it is spotless and I am not too fussed about the children leaving toys on the floor because it shows they are having fun! There is a difference between lots of toys on the floor and thick dust, dirty floors etc (imho!).
My youngest loves to "dusty dusty" with me. I give her a damp cloth and she enjoys "dusting" the table while I whizz about and dust the rest. It doesn't take too long but I have to be organised and to this " this morning I will dust downstairs" so that I am in the right mindset10 -
My sister is a SAHM and has a cleaner who comes two mornings a week when sis is at horseriding and nephew (aged three) is at playgroup. I don't see anything wrong with it, just because she's a mum doesn't mean she should be deprived of time for herself and having help is an opportunity to do just that."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0

i would love to get into a routine with the housework, have 3 children 5, 3 and 18 months, i feel like the house is a tip but its worse upstairs as i dont seem to get much done up there, need to have a good sort out i think and get myself organised. Youngest still gets up in the night, they all get up early and i do 3 school runs a day so feel worn out all the time. I had a break through this week though and convinced hubby to buy a dishwasher, its coming on saturday im very excited lolHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

If I could afford one I would have a cleaner lol. Youngest is starting school full time hopefully after half term so will be able to sort out/clean more
Just because you are a SAHM doesn't mean you shouldn't get any help. It's a tideous (sp) job house hold chores and I feel like a slave sometimes lol and I hate it! so if you can afford to get someone in to free up some 'me' time then I say why not :T0 -
