  • I got energy saver lightbulbs from asda - about 49p for different wattages and bayonet/screw in fixings but this was about a month or two ago. These were also the smaller bulbs - not the big tall ones but the squat versions

Poundland do do energysaver lightbulbs but i bought one and the light is very weird - not the same light as the phillips type

OK...Poundland, Philips, GE, any others...rather than just on price, which is the overall best buy? Seem to be different standards of illumination.

Over the last week I've been to Asda, Morrisons and Tesco and have been unable to get any cheap 11w energy saving bulbs (bayonet).
Either shelf empty - Asda, Tesco, or screw only - Morrisons.

Oh well, will keep looking out!

Probably be due to Philips running out temporarily! As of this morning they are in stock at every John Lewis and unless someone bulk-buys in a store they shouldn't run out. Other wattages and fittings are in stock with a few exceptions:

18 watt BC: Brent Cross, Reading,
8 watt BC: Reading, Peterborough, Knight & Lee (Southsea)
    8 watt ES: Cheadle

  • From now on, Philips economy/Genie energy saving bulbs will always be 47p or less at John Lewis. No short term special offers or matching other retailers - this is the permanent price!

(As mentioned previously in this thread I work for John Lewis)
