any slow cooker recipes for brisket please?
would like one that includes potatoes but keep veggies separate(an using sprouts)
thanks0 -
I don't normally add veg with my brisket. I find I like to use a liquid which makes the meat take on flavour, but the liquid is to runny to use but can be turned into gravy by being reduced. Maybe you want to make a stew???
For Brisket I use Knorr Stock Pot Beef Stock, Red Wine, paprika, worchestershire sauce and carroway seeds (to add a nutty flavour to the meat)
For a Stew I would use Beef Stock and Tomatoes, and season.
I would add any veg I wanted.
I hope this helps! We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -

I put brisket, potatoes, carrots, onions and any sort of stock in my slow cooker. It falls to pieces, i usually thicken the liquid after taking out the veg. It's more of a stew really but it's lovely !0

As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the existing thread to keep ideas together:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0

My parents are coming over for tea on Sunday night. I have decided to make banoffe pie for pudding (and can make that on Saturday). I am still looking for inspiration about what I can do for mains. Part of me wants to do something I can make beforehand and heat up.
Was thinking of possibly doing roast beef. I have never cooked with brisket before, and have been told it is very tender. How would I cook it in the slow cooker and for how long?Cat :wave:0 -
Brisket can be tender but it needs a long, slow cook rather than roasting. I'd brown the meat in a normal pan first before putting it in the slow-cooker with a pint of stock and your veggies. Cook it for as long as you like. The longer the better really.0

Hi CAT,
We have an existing thread on cooking brisket in a slow cooker that should help so I've added your thread to it to keep the advice in one place.

I see it's on offer at Tesco at the moment - what can I do with it? I have a slow cooker.
Thanks.0
