So who is the supplier in Manchester, and what is the make and model of your mattress????????

FACT....you can't make a decent quality memory foam mattress to be able to sell at a profit for £100.

FACT...you can't buy those mattresses from a supplier for £100 each, and make a profit by selling them for £100.

If they are being sold out of the back of a van for £100 each, and you consider that most people would have the sense not to be taken in by the story. So he would have to buy them cheap enough to make a decent profit. And the the manufacturer in Manchester would have to be able to make them cheap enough to then sell them at a decent profit in order to stay in business. So are you saying that they can manufacture decent memory foam mattresses for £25 each?????

Remember I am in the bed trade, and I work very closely with manufacturers in design and development of various products. And I can tell you for a fact that the manufacturers couldn't buy the foam cheap enough to make the mattresses for £25 each, otherwise the foam manufacturers would be out of business.

You asked about my mark up. Well what I can tell you is that many shops have a big mark up to cover overheads, because unlike Tescos they don't have 100's of people in the store at the same time buying loads of products. My mark up is non of your business, and is nothing to do with this thread, but I can tell you that it isn't anywhere near as much as shops.

All you have done is named a bed shop in Hull. You haven't named the mattress, the brand, or the supplier, yet you keep asking me to tell you the scam. If you answer my questions, then maybe I will be able to.

Ultimately we don't know what the scam is. But...

1. It sounds too good to be true, so it probably is.

2. The story the white van man is using is the same story used by scamsters. Therefore his story is no doubt bogus. Probably because he is covering up a scam.

So as far as I am concerned it is probably a scam.

plain and simple--it sounds to good to be true becouse its a lot cheaper than greedy bed stores,and people are used to paying these inflated prices so consider it the norm.So when someone offered it cheaper--people like(TIM GREEDY BED GUY START MAKING STORYS UP TO DISCREDIT OTHERS).Remember in wilkos toppers £45,he will proberbly say thats scam(PLEASE PEOPLE WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE).And dont be counted as one of greedy bed guy drones!

Before you start being insulting, you need to remember that you know nothing about me.

The fact is that the reason that I come on MSE is to stop people being ripped off by the big stores and the big brands. And to tell the truth about all the hype and gimmicks used in the bed industry. So get your facts right.

You mention Wilkos selling memory toppers for £45. Well to start with they aren't on their web site. Secondly if you knew anything about the bed industry you would know that occasionally some retailers do come up with what appears to be "too good to be true" offers on so called memory foam toppers. Well the fact is that they are too good to be true. The density is very very low, and isn't actually worth having. So to spend £45 on one would actually be a waste of money.

Good quality memory foam of a decent density (between 60 and 70kg per m3), is actually expensive. So you can't make a decent quality memory foam mattress for £35 as you say. In fact you are talking complete rubbish, because you really don't have a clue about the industry.

If the mattress you bought isn't stolen, or bankrupt stock, then there is a very high chance that it was made using child labour in a sweat shop somewhere in the far east. And probably contains dangerous chemicals.

I've been thinking of buying a new mattress, and there is shop in town that sells single Divan Mattresses for about £100 does anybody think this could be dodgey?
They also sell furniture.
