  • It seems that this nightsleep.co.uk is one of many company's running under Hick Lane Bedding. If you go to there other site kozeesleep they have a proper adress VAT number and what looks like a huge warehouse in Yorkshire. So i suppose you could hold these accountable if you wanted to persue a small claims action.

  • I got one of these cheap mattresses recently and after reading this forum I started to worry about my probably silly move. Is there a place where I could take the mattress to test it for any dangerous chemicals etc? Cheers.
  • Why is this a scam? Possibly selling stolen goods or maybe it is not beyond the realms of reality that a guy has bought a job lot of mattresses cheap and is selling them on. It's not uncommon for people of the 'travelling community' to do this.

Yeah, and they are so honest & reliable!
  • They will be 2nd-hand or cheap nasty ones, probably not real memory foam.

    Just think about the story

What can the poor delivery man do? Option A - deliver one and return one to the dreams depot. Option B - knock on some random persons door and sell them the mattress for only £100, thereby losing his employer the mattress and £300. Give over.

    Exactly and well said lol.

If he'd just turned up without such a convoluted story, it might have been worthy of consideration. As it is, it is most obviously a scam!

It used to be 'Italian' leather suites. After that, 'Armani' suits. These guys go round the streets and hang around in motorway service areas.

The best one was some years ago in America. This guy pulled a similar spiel with fur coats. He was a delivery driver, and there had been an 'overload' which meant he had too many fur coats on board and could sell the extras off.

He was arrested ... and found to be perfectly legit. The company that he 'worked for' was real. It had one owner, one employee and one driver ... him. The fur coats were legit in every way. It was a brilliant sales technique that relied on peoples greed.

Not sure what you mean by this? So someone selling something that is not 100% legit means trouble? God forbid someone would buy stolen gear, if you never have then you would be in the minority.

Er, maybe where you live? But no I've never bought stolen goods? I'm pretty sure I'm in the majority...do you live on some scally estate or something??? Dodgy goods as in copied dvds etc is totally different to stuff thats been nicked from someone's house.

And what I meant is; I wouldn't buy anything off a "traveller" (not that they do much travelling) as they are well, DODGY AS !!!!!
