Er, maybe where you live? But no I've never bought stolen goods? I'm pretty sure I'm in the majority...do you live on some scally estate or something??? Dodgy goods as in copied dvds etc is totally different to stuff thats been nicked from someone's house.

And what I meant is; I wouldn't buy anything off a "traveller" (not that they do much travelling) as they are well, DODGY AS !!!!!

Scally estate :rotfl:Maybe it is my tearaway life as a teenager so point taken :)

I would reword your last comment, that could almost be taken as racist. Basically you are saying all travellers are dodgy which clearly is not correct.

It's not racist (for a start a lot of these !!!!!! don't even appear to be Irish, just British scallys that don't want to pay taxes ;d), it's just personal opinion based on my experiences (and watching rogue traders :D), :o. "want some tarmac doing mate? "

I wouldn't personally buy anything from some dude offering me something out of his van, yeah he might be legit but I bet 90% of the time they wouldn't be. My loss if I'm wrong :>

had two up our way recently...one cockney, one yorkshire.

Stickers show £799 on them and they even have a website showing them at £799. You can buy them on ebay for around the £120 mark, they scam you at around the £170 mark.

We had them in Braintree last week - I got the van reg etc., but told him (northener) that we were skint - he asked how much I could give him & wasn't impressed when I said about £3.50!

  • Also had the same thing happen earlier today. Said he was from Leeds delivering mattresses to Wirral and they were over ordered so he couldn't take them back. Wanted 250 and would take cheque and gave me option of leaving it with me while I got the money for him later tonight. I said wasn't interested and he lowered the price to 100 because he was embarrassed about asking people in the street and wanted to get rid quick. Wouldnt take no for an answer until I bundled my daughter and me through front door and closed it.
  • he sure gets about i've seen him in walsall:beer:

Guys, what do you think of this? Is it a scam?

A guy in a cockney accent and sheepskin jacket drove up in a yellow three-weeler today while I was in Peckham. The van had 'Trotters Independent Traders' on. It said they have offices in London Paris and New York. Ive tried looking up their website but I dont think they have one. Anyway the guy asked me if I was interested in a professional briefcase, as they had gone to deliver to 'Trigger' (I presume one of their warehouses?) but there was a problem. He said he had his brother and his Grandad with him (Although oddly I could only clock the 2 guys in the front of the van?) Anyway he showed me the Briefcases and they were great looking, apparently they are genuine "Michael Pierce's", hand built in Swaziland (In Sweden) and are exclusive. So much so, you have to purchase it and then have the key sent to you from the manufacturer (Presumably to deter fencing of stolen cases). The guy (Derek) took my name and address, took my £100 (Theyre worth £1,200 on Regent Street apparently) and said my key would be with me in 2 weeks, along with a complimentary toblerone and cuckoo clock.

Im a bit worried though, whenever I shake the case I can hear a small metal object, rattling inside, I do hope theres nothing broken inside it...

    :rotfl:

    Thanks for cheering me up!

The watch scam was the one doing the rounds a few years ago.

A work colleague bought one and still wouldn't be convinced it was a scam even when I and others pointed it out to him.

It made me think. Surely the perfect scam is when you don't even realise you have been scammed?

Had guys in plain white vans trying to shift mattresses up here in Yorkshire for last 18 months or so. Yesterday, one stopped at a customer of mine's whilst I was chatting to her at the kerb. "£600 memory foam mattress for £150. Surplus stock madam". The lady asked about the warranty...."5 years madam", kept me amused all afternoon.
