The way I see it is a sock is a sock .. regardless of the colour or size as long as it keeps my foot warm , however my washing machine is the devil in disguise .

I swear it eats them :D
  • I have found the answer. For my husband I buy 7 pairs of dark socks all the same for Winter and 7 pairs of white sports socks for Summer. This way I just match up what I can until they run out.

Wilkinsons do their own version of these and are 48p a pack for a pack of 12.

Personally, I pair mine up as I am hanging up the washing and don't end up with very many odd socks.

I do this and find the only time I end up with an odd sock is when either a) OH hasn't put it in the washing basket or b) it has fallen behind the washing basket, so they are usually easily found.

Hanging them up in pairs helps so much. You've already done the sorting then, before putting them away too.

How do you organise your socks for washing? There are 6 of us here and I have a bag full of odd socks. For the life of me I cannot find their partners.
I daren't throw them out cos then the other ones will turn up!

    It's driving me nuts!

Please post to me, i have a g/f that believes socks dont have pairs and as such neither do i!!:mad:
  • Ches your post made me laugh so much, thanks!
We used to lose lots of socks, the dog hid them. The he got old and things got back to normal, now we have a puppy and guess what... socks disappearing again!

  • Thanks all.

It's mainly DS1 and DS2. DS1 has block colour heel and toe, DS2 has stripey heel and toe. DS3 has plain black and DD has white.

I'll try Wilkinsons for those sock mate thingys.

My dog's favourite toy is an odd sock stuffed with other odd socks and tied off at the end.
Have you looked inside your duvet covers, I often find socks in there.

I love this idea for a dog toy. But there are only 2 of us and - dare I say - I don't have the odd sock problem ... almost makes me wish I did!

    I just wear odd socks.

My teenage grandchildren do this and actually with brightly coloured socks it looks good.
I asked my 16 year old grand-daughter why she was wearing one bright yellow and one green sock and she just said "well they're socks are'nt they, does it matter".
You know I guess it realy does'nt as long as they have two of them and they're comfortable :D.

When people comment on my odd socks I just say "I have another pair the same at home" and they just look bemused and walk away!!
