Volkswagen Golf GTi
2.0 Petrol 5-door Hatchback

Mileage: 62,000

Part-exchange Price:
Excellent condition:
£2720
Average condition:

So the private sale price would be a little higher but not £1,300 higher.The man without a signature.0 -
:rotfl::rotfl:
£1500 overpriced?? ha ha
Do you work for webuyanycar.com by any chance??
:rotfl::rotfl:
Who is sitting with a car that they can't sell........
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
OK mess around dropping it by a couple of hundred here and there and you will still be sitting with it in 6 months time.
See vikingaero's post........:rotfl::rotfl:0 -

I ignored vikingaeros post as like 9 out of 10 valuations online are a load of s**t. For eg below based on 70k which is 10k more than mine. So judging by this mine is also bang on.
Guide Price
View exampleA car's value is directly affected by its mileage and fitted options, anywhere from £100 to £10,000. Original Price£15,590
Franchised Dealer£4,395
Independent Dealer£4,080
Private Good £3,455
Private Poor £2,395
Part Exchange£2,590
and for you to say I would be still selling in 6 months by only dropping a few hundred pounds clearly shows that selling cars (just like me) is not one of your strong points. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
All I was doing was posting on here to see if anyone could give me any pointers for other sites to use etc
o got someone coming round to look at it tonight0 -
You might disagree with what we have to say and that is your perogative but if it was me I would be droping the price by £1k and seeing what happens.
The second hand car market is severely depressed at the moment and a bit like the housing market (round us especially) some folk are realising they aren't going to get the price they (reasonably) think house/car is worth.
Your car is only worth what someone is prepared to pay and as you rightly point out the guides can be miles out. But Vikingaero was giving you the Glass' trade in prices which will be a lot more accurate than most.
Please don't shoot the messenger just because you don't like the message.0 -
It's a true fact that all cars sell for/will find,thier true value, if they don't they are worth less than asked. ( I think that makes sense)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

You are quite correct and that is why I tend not to sell them, they are normally scrap by the time I have finished with them.
But I do buy and our current car we got for less than a third of the price a the main dealer was looking for (tbh he was obviously smoking illegal substances when he priced it up).0 -
Ahh Parkers, that's also full of rubbish as it fails to take into account anything vaguely specialised such as the fact that the majority of people looking to buy a 7 year old Golf GTI know that the 2.0 8v engine is a dog.
If you have the time to kill, you'll eventually find someone with money to burn and hasn't bothered to do much research beyond "Golf GTI = hot hatch". I wish you the best of luck with this. OTOH you posted asking why it wasn't selling and we have told you.0 -

I have a friend who was with Lexus on a national basis and was made redundant this year. He has been trying to develop a software pricing aid for dealers and he is travelling the country chatting to many from all areas of the car market and the feedback he is getting is that the dealers are near suicidal on the used car front. Whilst new cars although not good are doing OK(ish).0 -
Mate of mine has just gone bankrupt after his used car business failed.
He said the problem is if the cars he buys do not sell within a few months the book value drops
to below what he paid for them in the 1st place.
He had to offer silly part ex values, Well below book prices. Put people off buying.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
