What am I doing wrong????
Been trying to sell my car for over 3 weeks. Started off at £4400 now down to £3645 with no interest whatsoever!
Its been listed on Autotrader, Ebay and Pistenheads.
All I have had is 2 emails asking about condition and thats it!
Its not overpriced at all if anything I thinks its a real bargain.
Anyone give any pointers on where to list it next?? These listing fees are getting expensive!

What car year milage? you are not selling at the best time of year so you have to take that in mind put some of your cars details up Im sure you will be told if your over priced. Have you looked at what equivelent cars have sold for? how did you come up with your price?
Also what does your ad say?0 -
Its a VW Golf GTi 2.0 Silver
Its done 61,000 and been in the family from new with new tyres and pads/disc in last 4 months.
I have looked around and as far as I can see its one of the better ones with at a low price. Selling as I got a company car now so dont need it!
ps Not trying to sell it on here by the way just looking for pointers!;)0 -
Any obvious modifications that might put people off?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Stick a link on to the ad and we can have a look.0 -
Isn't the 2.0 GTI the one with the underperforming 8v engine that nobody wants when the 1.8 16v version performs a lot better?
Might explain things?
This is assuming it's a MkIV as we still don't know the year.
Also I'm guessing those two emails are Nigerian scammers who will then tell you they have a buyer lined up who is going to pay you £6000 by fake cheque and then can you send him his commission by Western Union which you will never get back after the bank realise the cheque is fake 6 months down the line.0 -

I suspect you're right here, but i guess when we get a link to the ad we will know more. The 2.0GTI Mk 4 was a humble 115BHP. The one to have is the 1.8T which can be remapped to either 190BHP or 220/230BHP depending on year.0 -
I have got it on autotrader for £3995 and ebay for £3645
Just had another person enquire from autotrader though!
This is the ad -

Yup, it's the 8v.
I'm sorry there is no nice way to put this, but you have a car that nobody wants. The GTI is generally considered to be a sporty, enthusiasts car, the brand originally coming from a classic 80s "hot hatch". Unfortunately all the enthusiasts know that the 8v engine isn't actually very good at all and normal buyers will be put off by the car's hot hatch image, fearing high insurance and running costs.
Your best bet will be to sell it to a spotty boy racer in a white baseball cap and Argos jewellery who doesn't know what they are talking about but thinks GTI = fast. Unfortunately to do that it will need to be priced accordingly.0 -
As above really. Its the engine thats killing it. That and its a 5 door
No mission of getting that price either when you can buy a 1.8T from £2499...

Also, heres a 3 door 2.0 with similar miles for a full £1000 less than yours...

How can you tell the difference between the 2.0 8v and the 1.8 16V by looking (assuming it's de-badged)?
115bhp in a car that weight with a GTi badge is a joke!0
