That early in the morning and you'd already started decluttering? Wow, you're GOOD!
Just done a bit of money-shuffling. The £15 compensation that I chased up from L&G the other day has dropped into the bank today so that's been shifted to the holiday fund - I do wonder though how many people forget to chase that sort of offer up, or simply feel that they can't as it would appear greedy, and then lose out as companies only actually pay it when it is chased for. I bet a lot of the time they get all the goodwill for making the gesture without ever having to part with the cash! Odd pennies across to the VSP, which is building slowly, but convincingly. Also increased the amount paying across automatically into our new "Household" savings pot each month to take account of the fact that the Service charge has dropped by £6 p/m, but the water rates have gone up by £2. I need to chase up the appointment for the water meter actually as that hasn't come through yet either.
Jobs for next week will be to open my new ISA and transfer over the current one - and also to get my self-assessment form done and out of the way, the sooner the better on that one!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I have a list for today, but haven't copied it across from the email yet, so I'll see how much of it I can remember and may add some bits in later:

[STRIKE]Take car to Garage so they can look at the repair that hopefully Renault are authorising to be done for free.[/STRIKE]
Pack up Avon Return

[STRIKE]Print up speedway programme for this evening[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Sort out something for lunch that can be stretched to be taken for dinner tonight at speedway. [/STRIKE] done lunch, but decided to buy chips tonight to celebrate the tax return!
15 minute blitz bathroom
15 minute blitz - kitchen
30 minute blitz - everwhere else!
Next load of washing to machine
Washing from Airer - fold & put away
That'll do - depending on time some of that might have to roll over until tomorrow.
Me you make a good point re the tax rebate thing - I'd not thought of it that way but for me it ought to be fairly relevant as having spent 8 months of the year on PAYE earning around three times as much as I am currently, it might be quite a pleasant surprise in due course!
I have been doing a fair bit of thinking on the subject of tax / NI recently. The situation currently is that as things stand I will earn relatively little that I will actually be taxed on although obviously I am hoping that this will change over the next year. At the moment I have made a decision that I stash 25% of my earnings from my "main job" straight away into a tax account. In theory I could reduce that figure dramatically for the 2011/12 tax year, but I have decided to leave it the same, at which point the excess will form a nice little savings / emergency fund in due course which might be useful. I certainly want to make sure that I carry on setting it aside as I go as one of my biggest worries was finding myself with a dreaded tax bill and not enough funds to pay it!
Other than that all is ticking along fairly smoothly - this month is going to be a headache as we will be away by the time the credit card bill comes along, however I have been trying to keep a note as I have gone along of spends on the card, and will also see if I can find the online login details so I can check it all out in advance. The intention is to make sure that we have enough money in the relevant account ready for when the payment is due out that we don't go temporarily overdrawn.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
