seems to me at the moment most shops are hair raising regardless of topping up on the washing powders and stuff0

I tend to work on a cycle with shopping and i agree, the one with the washing powder is always dearer. I do find Alidi's own brand quite good and i mix it with soda crystals. Sometimes i just use a small amount of Soda crystals anyway and i have used soap nuts as well. Have you thought about Laundry gloop ? There is a recipe knocking round on Oldstyle for it, although i have to say i haven't tried it yet.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

I use laundry balls or whatever they're called...cost me about £5 several years ago and they just seem to keep on going!Weight loss: Start weight: 80kg; Current Weight: 77kg; Target weight: 55kg0

I've thought of trying the laundry gloop I must admit - the main thing that puts me off is I have barely any storage in my kitchen and trying to store a tub of something like that would be more difficult than storing soap powder or tablets. The tesco powder I had last time I wasn't that impressed with, so I'll have a look in Tesco first and see what deals there are about for other brands, then failing that I might try Lidl or Aldi. I generally use half the amount they recommend and if the wash needs a bit of extra help either add stain remover or soda crystals.
Just tried to sort out my ISA but as I am transferring one in apparently they have to send me an "ISA Transfer Pack". Oh well! That's all requested anyway so I shall have to remember to sort it when we're back.
Pips - I'm about to be joining your world of scouring the Co-Op for reduced food for a fortnight - we shopped like that on holibobs last year and it worked brilliantly, so aim to try it again!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Never mind laundry Gloop lol, a small (miniscule) squirt of fairy liquid will do exactly the same job, and if you've got loads stuff with biological marks ten a little drop of shampoo in with the fairy, culls it quick smart pronto, Just a smidgeon mind, never over do it, or you will over soap the machine, I promise, it works, been doing it for years. No one knows not even other half lol0

Some great washing tips there, I've looked at the washing balls but not sure they would sort DS's muddy gear. I usually buy big box powders from Mr T as they keep having them on better than half price.
Since I read an article on the net about how the supermarkets set you up when offers are on I've really noticed it. Something we buy has been £1 since it came in store, this week it is on offer £1.50 for 1 or 2 for £2.50  . They are sneaky wotsits but they are only a mile or so up the road so I do save on petrol.
Must go back to stopping at Aldis when going by, I just hate the way they get everything through as fast as they can even if there is no cue.One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!

Alternatively go to Tescos, buy the Surf large bottles - £8.98?????? and get DTD giving a net cost of around £1 a bottle :jA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

The reason they do that is the people on the tills in Aldi will then rush off to clean the floors once there are no people wanting to be served. No sitting around for those people.
You could always just tell yourself in Tesco "I made it through the till in 4 minutes instead of 3 and only paid £5 extra (or whatever) for the privilege...""Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
