New house anti social behaviour

We had simliar problems with drunkards in our last place....They were all ages who would drink to more than excess, fight and create mayhem till gone 4 in the morning. It was 11 months of hell. At the first the police coudn't care less but then when the local community officer advertised in the local rag for details of anti-social behaviour i got her up to speed and for a few weeks the police van came round each Saturday and tried to break things up and on one occasion had to deal with a very nasty incident. Though in the last few weekends we were there it seemed like the police themselves had given up again.
I sympathise with you as we never got much sleep at the weekends and it stopped us enjoying weekends, it made my health condition so much worse and when my hubby did have to do work at the weekends he was unable to do so due to only having an hour or two sleep.
I think the thing is you have to either decided whether you a) put up with it b) move or c) decided to stay and fight it.
We had were told by our community officer that even if the police didn't take us seriously to ring every weekend and report things as then it would be documented and as we lived within a certain radius (a bigger radius than i thought) of the pub every incident gets documented and goes to the licensing committee and the pub could have lost it's licence which was part of the atttraction with our savages even though they spent most of it outside the pub or in the srrounding streets.
It's really about finding ways and means to find a long term solution. We didn't report everything each weekend in the end as we had had enough and by then we knew we were moving and we just didn't want to waste anymore energy.0 -

It is about being persistent but it is very emotionally draining having to do it.
Report everything. Ask for a log number each time.
Homewatch - find out where one is and go - the people who make decisions go there.
get video evidence if possible but NEVER put yourself at risk getting it.0 -

Thanks for this. Your username made me laugh, as it's exactly what I need to get rid of them! .
It's a nickname I "earned" while riding my bike. Not at all sure that it was a compliment, but it makes me laugh too and it stuck.
Laughter may be the best medicine and I think you could use some at present?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Anti social behaviour by bored youths has decreased considerably in our village since the local Youth Club took off with a vengeance. So i dont feel it was such a stupid suggestion.
Are the library authorities aware of what is happening on their territory? We installed security gates at the village library that I work in because of nuisance after-hours behaviour. Also security lighting.
Is there a local PCSO who could wander round there at regular intervals making it part of his beat?
Similar happened here. A couple of big beefy bloke type social workers opened up a drop-in centre in the evenings - telly, videos, pool table, coffee (no booze, no smoking), darts etc. Majority of local youths enjoy it at least once a week, gives some structure to their lives. I'm sure that any hardened drinkers/drugtakers would not be interested, but it seems to be reducing their opportunity to "recruit" others to their habits.0 -
those mosquito things really work, ask the local police about one, perhaps with some community pressure one could be fitted to the library wall.0

Thanks missile. Yeah, we need laughter. Don't get me wrong it's not that bad, just something we're keen to get shot of asap.0 -

A relatively quiet one last evening. Arrived home at 5pm to 3 youths sat on the library wall whilst the library was actually open. The 3 usual suspects. Just having a tab. One of them then made their way to the vacant house nextdoor to us and started sniffing around. They eventually walked off, but couldn't walk in a straight line.
5 mins after the library closed at 6pm one of them came back and went behind the library for around 20 mins. Came out even wobblier (if that's a word!). Later on another one turned up with his girlfriend and sat on the library bench. Luckily, the police turned up and spent 20 minutes chatting to them. Police eventually drove off, the couple stayed there for a few mins, then thought better of it and walked off. It's good that the police are patrolling. Often two youths often turns into 15 very quickly, so this action prevented further potential problems.
So, incidents each night still, but not massive ones. Just going to call the library to see what progress they're making.0 -

Thanks for this. I've not been replying to these posts mainly because they're not helpful at all. I started this post in order to seek ideas from others about what action they have taken or just to gain from other experiences. Like I've said before, until you experience it you don't really appreciate how bad it makes you feel. I see this forum as a wider community to tap into over and above the authorities, so it's actually really helpful. The last thing I need is to get invovled or bogged down with posts like the one above. Yeah, everyone's entitled to an opinion, but I'm farily sure no one would put up with it. Perhaps the person above would simply move, costing £6k plus in moving expenses and as we've just moved in not somethiing we want to do for obvious reason. Get out the sandbags we're trenching ourselves in for the fight!!:T0
